Relationships should allow to choose from selected list or lists (not just from a single list)
D
David J Le
Currently, creating a new Relationship allows us to choose where to add the items:
- From any Workspace
- From selected List (single list)
Please extend the 2nd option. There should be an option to choose multiple lists.
Or better yet, please allow a filter to allow what locations are allowed to be shown and selected for the Relationship. Selecting from any Workspace is many times too much info to choose from at once.

Relationships can 'relate' to multiple lists and can link tasks from multiple lists
Alexandra Waggoner
I'd like to be able to setup a relationship to multiple lists in a folder have. The relationship would be in the 'CAMPAIGNs' list, and I want to have 1 relationship that could connect tasks from the lists in this folder to show all of the content associated with this campaign.

Support for Many to One or One to Many or Multiple to Multiple Relationships (list level)

Currently, ClickUp allows us to create custom relationships only between two lists, which limits our ability to structure and utilize our data effectively. We can't establish relationships from multiple lists to one, or multiple to multiple relationships where both sides can be named. This creates significant friction in managing complex project structures.
While we can create a custom relationship from one list to the whole workspace, the other side is still labeled as a generic "reference." This approach doesn't provide the granular, structured relationships necessary for a scalable database structure.
Potential Benefits of Enhanced Relationship Capabilities are Cross-Project Task Dependencies:
By allowing tasks in one project to be dependent on tasks in multiple other projects, teams can better visualize and manage complex workflows across the organization, leading to improved project timelines and risk management. This particular addition will help better retain the context of the reference/task-link than a non-searchable reference.

Allow Relationship field to restrict tasks to multiple lists
Anais Biossat
📝 Description
Currently, the Relationship custom field only allows two options:
- Relate a task to any task across the entire Workspace.
- Restrict relationships to tasks within a single list.
This limitation reduces flexibility. It would be very useful to allow the Relationship field to be restricted to multiple specific lists (instead of just one).
🔧 Practical use case
I use ClickUp to manage my team’s planning and need to connect scheduled tasks with other types of tasks where time tracking is centralized (e.g., billing tasks, annual maintenance, ongoing projects, or credit time).
For example:
- A planning task could be linked to an annual maintenance task stored in the maintenance list.
- Or to a task inside a current project list.
- Or to a credit time task.
This way, the team can track time directly from the planning tasks, while the logged hours are automatically reflected in the corresponding maintenance, project, or credit time lists. This would allow us to better analyze profitability and compare tracked time with sold time across projects.
✅ Benefits
- Greater flexibility in organizing tasks.
- Less noise when searching for related tasks.
- Faster, more accurate linking between relevant tasks.
- Better visibility into profitability by connecting planning and time-tracked work.

Link multiple lists in the relationship field instead of just tasks.
Lester Szurko
I would like to be able to link multiple lists in the relationship field similar to the way Goals allow you to select an entire list or multiple lists to a target.
If a create a task, I'd like to be able to link multiple lists so that I can see the list names in the relationship field so I can click on them and be taken straight to the list that is linked to the task.

Custom relationship to multiple selectable lists
Andrew J Liu
Currently Custom Relationships are only made for 1 specific list or any list.
Would be great to add it to more than 1 specific list. For example.
I have a "Client" that is a sole trader, and they are put under my "Person" database. And other client's that are businesses, which are put under our "Business" database.
Some jobs we service individuals & some we service businesses. It's unfortunate that I cannot narrow down the relationship to both of those specific lists.

I agree, it's either from 1 list or everywhere, which is quite annoying trying to filter down which tasks I want to relate certain tasks to. Being able to select from 2 or even more, would make it really easy to narrow down on finding the task/s.

we are exploring converting lists to be more of on object, to help with projects as a list so this may be something we can consider as we are building that out.
