Zach - ClickUp I vote for the summarized view of recurring tasks. But also it would be very beneficial if we see all recuring instances below each task. This could be in form of drop arrow menu, which be placed beside the Task, and by clicking it lists all recurring instances.
having this will give us 360 visibility to recurring tasks.

Zach - ClickUp just went into the new recurring tasks manager, and I found a few that I forgot to turn off recurring so I clicked through and turned them off..... but they still appear in the list from the new manager. Is this supposed to be like this? I was expecting it to disappear from the list, or maybe put a strikethrough.... or something.... anything other than still appearing in the list along with the 'next run' date.
Zach - ClickUp
Stephanie Henry: Hmmm, they shouldn't show anymore. What happens when you revisit the experience after a refresh? Do they disappear?

Zach - ClickUp I even closed out of clickup completely and reopened and they still appear.
What's also strange:
1.) One of them that I cancelled the recurring today, also now is blank on the breadcrumbs/hierarchy that would normally appear in the upper left hand corner. See here: https://app.screencast.com/BGichHT8HLAfz - And now that I have this task open the X/close button does not work. It stays there on the screen and I have to completely close out CU again and reopen.
2.) When I first loaded this new manager page I was surprised to see some recurrings with future dates even though I cancelled the recurring a couple days ago.

Hey everyone! I'm excited to announce that the Recurring Task Overview is now available in your Workspace! 🎉
We've released the first version of this feature, providing a comprehensive overview experience. While it doesn't have management capabilities yet, we're working on adding them in the future.
One question I need help on!
Regarding the new feature we've shipped, I have a question for you. Currently, recurring tasks are displayed as separate line items, with each recurrence indicated by an incrementing run count (188, 189, 190, etc.). However, all of these line items are related to a single task.
Would you prefer to see each recurrence as a separate line item, or have a streamlined experience with only one unique task displayed per line?
Lastly
I understand this will only be a partial solve for many of you that were following this Feature Request. Although I'm closing this one, if there are still strong needs you have, let's use this to chat about them: https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/add-management-features-into-the-recurring-task-overview
Thank you for your support! 🙏

Zach - ClickUp I like the unique item that is summarized versus each recurrence as a separate line item. I took a look and it was a lot of line items, so just seeing one task that has a reoccurring setting attached with the extra data you put is more useful/effective. I REALLY look forward to updating the settings for the reoccurring from within the manager view. Thanks for the update!
Zach - ClickUp
Jarod McPherson: we'll make the change for the summarized version like you mentioned.

Zach - ClickUp I would vote for one line to cover all recurrences. Otherwise it's just overwhelming for no real extra benefit.
The use of the recurring task manager is to see which tasks recur, not to see all instances of them.

Zach - ClickUp Hi, I also like the summarized version of a recurrence, it is easier to read than it would be if splitted in separate items.
However, there is one thing missing in the recurring task manager : show the name of the folder / space in which the task shows up.
Recurring tasks are often set up for weekly meetings, so our tasks all have the same name and I am unable to identify to which project it refers without clicking on it to open the detail.

Oh, also, while this is happening, can the Automation count in the top-right of Views also include if there are higher-level automations operating on the view?
Right now, they only include automations that are strictly made on that view, but automations from higher-up in the hierarchy also act on them, so should be included in the count.

Hey folks, the first version of this will be shipping relatively soon.
To be clear, it will
not
have management capabilities at first. This first version will purely be an overview experience. Based on the survey results, this first version will meet the needs for 40% of you. But for the 55% of you that said this would somewhat meet your needs, don't worry - this isn't the end!
Try it out, provide feedback, and then we can work on building out the management version next.
Thanks everyone 🙏

While this is being done, I am hoping some issues with recurring tasks, and task creation in general, can be fixed.
BUGS
Setting recurring tasks often does not work properly. These are not easily replicated - they don't always happen - so it's hard to submit proper bug reports.
- You can set a task to recur a specific number of times, or until a certain date, and then it won't appear for the last date. Or it will appear, and then a few weeks later, the final recurrence will disappear. Worth noting: The final recurrence NEVER appears on the mobile app.
- If you move the next recurrence, it messes everything up. E.g., you have a task set to recur every Tuesday for 10 weeks, recur on schedule. You move one instance. The others stay on Tuesday (correct), but then, some time later (days, whatever), it freaks out and loses count of recurrences.
It should work that, if you move one recurrence, it will not affect the others. This is useful for when you have a regular meeting that happens to change one time.
I believe this is how it's currently set to work, but it doens't always happen.
- If you set a recurrence schedule, and then, later, try to change it (e.g., add some), it also freaks out. It is unclear if it should include the previous ones or only new ones.
- If you accidentally mark a task as Done or Complete, then put the status back, it skips a recurrence, which it obviously should, as it was marked as Done. BUT, if you then try and set the date back to where it was, then when the next recurrence rolls around, it skips twice. E.g., you have a task set to recur once per year. You mark it is Done by accident. It now moves to the next date (correct). You mark it as open, and move the date back to where it was. Now, when the date rolls around, it will skip the recurrence to TWO dates ahead.
TASK CREATION
On task creation, setting the Start and Due Date and time is not a fun time:-
- You can put in a Due Date and Time, but then when you go to set a start date, it erases the Due Date you already put in.
- If you choose to set a Start Time from a List or Calendar view, it opens the Due Date entry box.
- It keeps removing the current active area when trying to set dates and times. So you have to keep clicking back in to it.

Guy Mannerings Absolutely correct! Can I add my wish to see these bugs fixed ASAP. I can confirm I experience all the behaviour described too. I cannot stress how much these small things irritate and set me back on a daily basis.
Guy Mannerings
Adding another bug to this...
Sometimes recurring tasks have completely different dates and times to the initial task. This actually happens a lot.
E.g., I can set a task to recur every Friday between 2-5pm. Only the first task works, then all the others are stretched over days or have different times.
See example image. You can see recurrences are spread over 2 days, with a different end time to the first task.
Zach - ClickUp I know this is not for bug reporting, and I have sent this bug in, but I feel these bugs should be addressed when dealing with a full recurring tasks manager.

Allocating user stories or tasks to a clickup list is challenging. Recurring tasks inherit all the activity and time tracking of the original task; irrespective if you set recurrence to create a new task each time.

I really like this idea. I'm a fairly new user, and I already find myself trying to remember if I already set up a recurring task or not, having to go search. And moving forward, I'd really like one place from which to be able to review these tasks to adjust dates or change associated notes, etc.
