I’m running into a problem with recurring tasks in Workload view that I can’t resolve.
Here’s the example situation:
• I have a parent task with two subtasks.
• I want the parent and subtasks to recur daily, staying perfectly aligned.
• I also want to see the future recurring subtasks in Workload view, so we can plan ahead.
The issue:
• If I set recurrence ONLY on the parent, the subtasks stay in sync (good), but future subtasks only appear in Workload after the parent recurs — so we lose forward visibility.
• If I set recurrence on BOTH the parent and the subtasks, then the subtasks get pushed forward twice (once by their own recurrence and once when the parent recurs), meaning they end up a day out of sync with the parent.
In short:
• Option 1: Parent-only recurrence → sync works, but no future visibility in Workload.
• Option 2: Parent + subtask recurrence → future visibility works, but dates drift out of sync.
What I’d really like:
1. A way for recurring subtasks to inherit their dates directly from the parent recurrence, without needing their own recurrence rule.
2. The ability to see those future subtasks in Workload view before the current parent task is completed.
Can you confirm if this behaviour is expected, and if there’s a workaround or upcoming fix?
At the moment it feels like we’re forced to choose between visibility and accuracy, which makes recurring subtasks much less useful for capacity planning.
Thanks a lot for your help!
