Placeholder role with no email address
Mike Byblow
I have no intention of inviting clients to view anything in ClickUp, so I don't need a paid account for any of them. However, many projects have tasks that need to performed by a client — e.g., approve a mockup, send a logo file, confirm meeting time, etc. — which have been communicated to the client through regular account management channels.
I need to track those tasks and their "client" assignments in ClickUp (especially since they block internal tasks). Since Guest accounts can't be assigned tasks, I need some type of placeholder user role to create a "Client" assignee. No email address is needed — this is strictly internal info for our team.
Right now, these client tasks have to be left unassigned. But that means that 'unassigned' can't be used to check for actual accidentally unassigned tasks, nor can reports reliably include client tasks info.
If we used the Free Forever plan, I could easily create a Gmail address to use for a free ClickUp account without issue. However, I can't do this on a paid plan. So it seems like we're being punished for having a paid plan.
Could ClickUp please consider adding a 'placeholder'-type account with no email to fulfill this function? I'm sure some ClickUp customers would have use cases in which they might use this type of role initially and then upgrade it to a paid one eventually.
