Ordering of custom fields in task

When custom fields are created, the order of the fields can be customized in the Manage custom fields for the list view. However, this does not translate to the order that the custom fields appear in the task (which is set strictly to an alphabetical order). The order in the task should be customizable and reflect the order in the Manage custom fields.

Hi all - thanks for the feedback on this! We currently allow for either A-Z ordering for custom fields, or drag/drop manual reordering; however, there is a certain order that is always respected today: Required Custom Fields, Pinned Custom Fields, Custom Fields w/ values, Custom Fields w/o values.
I'd love to hear from you here on how you would like to see this ordering work for custom fields across your Workspace to best enable your workflows across teams!

Please consider this! Custom fields often represent information that's relevant at different points in an organic workflow, and I want to be able to see them in that order!

Clickup - the very function and purpose of your app depends on this feature. My VA's are constantly confused when i assign them tasks because their 'Home' dashboard is such a chaotic mess. TASKS SHOULD PULL THROUGH IN THE ORDER THEY HAVE BEEN LISTED! and the general view of this dashboard needs improving so its super clear what project the tasks have come from and the exact order they need to be completed. HOW CAN YOU HAVE NOT PUT THIS IN PLACE ALREADY? it is impacting work efficiency. It frustrates me every single day.

As a user who creates a lot of custom fields for many different scenarios, it is very important that, for every list, I can choose the order for which I want to see the information when I'm inside a task.
Let me give a simple example: I have a "Contacts List" inside ClickUp. When I click on a contact, I would like to see the information by a "logic order" (Ex: Name, Phone, Email, Address, Zip Code, Country, Instagram, Facebook, Birth Date). But, currently, I can only see these fields in alphabetical order, which doesn't make sense as the information appears in a non-logical way.

It would make more sense from an end-user perspective to allow the fields to be moved according to the user's wants/needs especially for those creating and mostly using custom fields.

We should have the ability to order Custom Fields in the way they were created ie chronological pattern of the Form.
Or, at least be able to manually order custom fields at the list level to then save it as a permenant view in Tasks.
This needs to be sorted ASAP!

We need to be able to manually order custom fields at the list level (regardless of where the field originated) from the custom field manager, so that order carries over to tasks within that list.

hey . its so important for us to have the option to set the orders of the custom field. its super annoying now ant it affect our abillity to manage proparly

As of now, there is no way to reorder manually using drag/drop despite Caroline Ginty 's comment on this.
I'd love to be able to manage them in columns as Tony Cunningham suggested as well as being able to set a manual order, e.g. by having a field for the order in the custom field settings and putting in numbers for priority.
