Agree this seems like a basic function that is a bug

This is not a design feature this is clearly a bug and it should be fixed ASAP not waiting for some feature recommendation. It worked in the past. It should not need a workaround to make it seem like it is working. It should be a recurring task, that when I complete it, it disappears and appears when it is scheduled.
