Option to always show, hide when empty or always hide custom fields in task view
Juan Angel
This would be useful when there are a lot of custom fields in an item and by default you just want to select a few to show when you open the task/item view. See an example from notion

Would be great to be able to hide custom fields within a task or remove them from list. As if they are created at the workspace level there is no way of deleting them from the list only. Thanks

Agreed that custom fields should be viewable at the workspace level without them being added to every space, folder, list, and task. Without this the everything view options are underwhelming.

Yes it would be so helpful to show specific custom fields for each custom view created. We build custom table views for each role on our team so that team members only see the fields that they are responsible for. However, when they open a task, they are greeted with all of the fields. It is overwhelming for them.

Please! It's so lame to see 45 empty fields

I've been asking for this feature for years. All of our task templates are different and they all require different custom fields. The option to show or hide them by task type would allow us to eliminate a lot of confusion in our processes. Honestly, I'm very frustrated this feature still isn't available.

This would be extremely helpful as we have many spaces within our workspace, and about 11 workspace level fields that we cannot track down the use for!

Yes! The fields are there mostly for OTHER purposes. I don't need to see them WHILE working on a given tasks. I certainly don't need to see empty ones...if I want to change them I can go to the effort of showing them. (But, that's my workflow, so having the option to globally set it for workspace etc. and/or by user might be good, in addition to in-the-moment toggle.) Note that, elsewhere, I've also requested that the fields be vertical rather than horizontal chunk so that attachments can be elevated/more visible in task view (they too could be vertical rather than horizontal). That way even if/while fields DO show, you can still USE the task.

That's a feature that the platform really needs. Those 3 options come from Podio and work really nice, but there are a couple of options that could be added as well:
- Show / Hide fields depending on the value of a different field (think about calculations field in podio or airtable).
- Show / Hide fields through API.

Additionally, I would love the new task creation menu to always show the custom fields, or at least the ones I would like to see/mandatory ones.
Right now, when creating a task using the quick menu I have to click the three dots, select custom fields, expand the custom fields and then I can select/enter values.

This would be a great improvement, specially for those of us that are using custom fields for automation purposes but don't want them to be shown to the user.

Yes! I'm definitely not enjoying my task view right now. I have seventeen custom fields that are automatically set when that task is created. They are purely for reference, sorting, automations, etc. and I typically don't want to see these fields when I am viewing the task, yet they are always there taking up space. The fields I want to see and interact with, are empty by default. So, to initially set the fields that are important, I need to scroll past all the reference fields and click "show empty fields". (Yes, I could pin them, but I am using these fields in several lists and I don't want them pinned in the other lists.)
Juan Angel's suggested hide properties would solve this problem fantastically.
Additionally, it would be nice to be able to group custom fields and then set properties for that group. For example, I want to create a group titled "Reference" and set the group to be toggled closed by default. I would add my reference fields to the group. In task view the reference view would be hidden, but I can still toggle the group open to see the fields. I envision it looking a little like the relationships fields.
