NEW notifications for OLD mentions

My team is experiencing this issue: we're getting NEW notifications for OLD @mentions (from task descriptions). Seems to be happening only for @mentions that as inside a Task Description.
It's very confusing. Started recently!

Not sure if this is related, but I got some new notifications yesterday for someone editing the task description for a couple of tasks that were closed a while ago. I asked them about it, and they had no idea why that might have happened since they had not interacted with those tasks to their knowledge.
