Subfolders

It would be very convenient to have the ability to have subfolders. I use folders for classifying projects. For example, Projects would be a Folder name. 2019 Projects would be a Subfolder name.

Hey everyone! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself as I will be joining the Hierarchy team as the Product Manager and we will be working on getting this shipped.
We know—Subfolders have been at the top of your wish list for what feels like forever. Trust us, we hear you (loud and clear) and are equally as excited to get it out to you.
Our engineers are working through the final challenges to ensure subfolders function as expected, without impacting the rest of ClickUp or its performance.
In the meantime, your feedback keeps us honest and fired up, and we’re committed to getting this right. Thanks for sticking with us and keeping the pressure on—we’re building this for you, and we won’t stop until it’s done!
It's nice to meet you all and I look forward to sharing more updates.

I really would like to see the ability to create subfolders. For example, I only have one folder, labeled "Employee Management". I currently have 2 employees. I need to be able to create SUBfolders for each of them.

Hi, we urgently need subfolders to launch our new CRM service. When do you expect to implement this feature? It is crucial to start with right structure in ClickUp to avoid rebuilding whole the space in the future what takes a risk of loosing data.

Krzysztof Kędra ClickUp is very forgiving regarding its ability to rearrange data. Unlike other tools I’ve used where you literally need to recreate tasks if you decide you created them in the wrong place. Moving Tasks and Lists between Folders and Workspaces is really easy, so I wouldn’t be worried about getting the structure perfect first time. Changing will be stress free.
Regarding sub-folders; we’ve been waiting since 2019, so I wouldn’t hold your breath.

James Wooldridge Yep, I thought so. We will go with current ClickUp features. We are remaining unlikely to get a nice surprise this year. :-)

Idea I had for your subfolders sure your far on your way into it but I was thinking rather then calling them subfolders you could call them Cabinets (like a file cabinet or in this a folder cabinet) & there could be cabinet types that allows you to set the folders inside to a specific default folder type (folder types another suggestion along with this) but you can still control folder types manually and have different folder types inside of the cabinet. I feel this will solve the issue of the need for subfolders. P.S. this goes along with how I have explained click up to my teams Workspace = The Building, Spaces = The Rooms/Groups Folders = Like a File Cabinets for us right now in my example, Lists = The Folders - of Teams, Contact lists, & initiatives. Tasks = The File. Contact/Info , Lists of tasks or an individual task, & Subtasks = Tasks (I've broken this down further as well if you guys would like it contact me really helped getting everyone familiar)

Folder nesting

I want to be able to create a folder in a space, then add/nest folders within that folder for further separating work. I have employees who need multiple lists for different tasks, so they would use their own folder but I want multiple member folders to be nested within a team folder that then fits within a single space. Most applications allow folder nesting which we use and would like to mirror that structure and organization here in ClickUp rather than cluttering up the space.

The ability to create new folders within a folder (kinda like sub-folders) will be really usefull for organising and catogorising stuff.
