Make subtasks searchable from the filter by task name search box
complete

Its frustrating not to be able to search for subtasks when using the "filter by task name" search box. I need to use Cmd+F instead.

why is this not done yet? it's been 4 years since it was requested.

This shouldn't be marked as complete. Having to show the subtasks as separate tasks simply to be able to do a search throws off the whole structure.

Hey everyone! This is possible by having all subtasks show as separate tasks! Let us know if that doesn't do the trick!

Nick Potok This is not what we want. My team like having sub tasks with foldouts for organization. We want to be able to search for sub tasks by name without switching our subtask settings. In fact I find this is expected behaviour. Some people on my team were frustrated because they cannot search for their tasks.
I don't want to make our sub tasks viewed as tasks. (defeats the purpose)
Lindsay Saewitz
Agreed!! Please include subtasks in the search by name feature!
Alde Roberge
This problem also happens with documents and sub documents. When searching for a document (@@@), only the first document in the tree shows up. You have to hope that it shows in the search, otherwise there's no other way to reference it.

Agreed. We attempted to use subtasks in our workflow as a temporary onboarding queue, as they have the ability to be converted to a task later. However, the inability to search them forced us to go a different direction. Really wish we could search them in the same manner as a task. Subtasks would be our preferred method for what we need. Maybe another toggle could be added in search for subtask name, subtask description, and subtask custom fields?

I'm surprised there aren't more comments about this one - it is really frustrating when you are finding a task in a long list to have ClickUp isn't there when you know it is, only to find out it's because it's a subtask.

Amber Cantell: I'm new in project management and I even couldn't imagin that in PM application Search doesn't search in subtasks. Do the ClickUp developers use Clicup to develop clickup? Looks like they don't.

Andrey Rasskazov: I feel your pain, Andrey! It's certainly not intuitive to exclude subtasks from the search. I've actually mostly gotten away from using subtasks specifically for this reason, which seems like a real waste of a feature.
