YESS! ..omg I realized this feature was requested 4 freaking years ago.. seriously?! We need tags specific to LIST!

Just like we have 'status templates' and can go to 'list settings' and add 'list statuses' we need 'tag templates' and be able to go to 'list settings' and add 'list tags' This unlocks so many extra uses for lists. Example - if I'm make a list in order to have an area for a Lean Coffee weekly, I should be able to set the list to use the 'Lean Coffee' tags. Not a random set of tags that is from everywhere else in clickup.

Being able to manage tags as templates like statuses also helps us to remove old, deprecated tags after years of using clickup.

In one space we have two customer service proccesses set up and both have multiple (similar but not identical) statuses and a similar but not identical workflow, they each have their own lists of course. That being said, there are multiple "if tag changes, then move to status" automations in place - basically the whole workflow is organized around the tags. Some tags are used in both lists but a few are unique to only one of them.

And here comes the problem: unfortunately it proves confusing for newcomers to figure out which 4 tags of the 15 they have will not produce an effect in the list they're working on when they apply them (because those tags are part of the automations from the other list)... hope this is another good argument for restricting tags to a specific list when needed.

Having to create an entirely new space for a single list that needs a unique set of tags is driving me bonkers.

I completely agree with the feature request! It would be an incredibly useful addition to ClickUp. The ability to restrict tags to specific lists or folders, while not making them visible throughout the entire space, would greatly enhance the organization and flexibility of our workflow.

The main issue for us is displaying tags on tasks in our space-wide calendar while having a selection of specific tags in the lists within our space. Since each list contains multiple calendar items with distinct contexts, it's crucial to assign different tags accordingly. We could solve this by using the tag custom field; however, that restricts us from effectively utilizing tags in our space-wide overview.

Enabling the option to restrict tags to particular lists or folders would empower us to create a more tailored and comprehensive view of our tasks and projects using the main tags function. It would streamline the visualization of different aspects of our business, making it easier to manage and understand our workload.

I genuinely hope ClickUp takes this valuable feedback into account and implements the suggested feature. It would undoubtedly improve the overall user experience and make the platform even more valuable for businesses like ours that rely on detailed organization and task management across multiple contexts.

We absolutely need this feature.
