Legacy Recurring Deprecation - Requests
Zach - ClickUp
Legacy recurring will be deprecated in the future (previously it was going to be April 2024), and existing settings won't carry over. We strongly advise transitioning to the new recurring tasks beforehand.

Hello, I rely 100% on being able to trigger a new tasks based on status... i.e., I'm not concerned about due dates whatsoever... I just need to say, when a task moves from status A to status B, I need it to trigger a new task. It would be beyond frustrating to lose this feature! Also, during a recent inquiry, it was suggested that I change my tasks to be "Done", and change the recurrence to the new options using create new task when done... but the thing is... the work ISN'T actually done, so this is a big issue.
I just really need to be able to trigger new tasks on status, not dates.
Thank you!

Changing this back to OPEN.
Like my previous message, we're not ready to deprecate and will be removing the in-app message as well.
I'll keep this post open for now.
Thank you!

Hey everyone!
Wanted to chime in again and let you all know that we're still not ready for deprecation here. I don't have an updated timeline but rest assured we'll notify you, add in the features you need for the new recurring system, and give you ample time before anything is removed.
Thank you for your feedback here as always.

There are two legacy recurring features that will impact my workflow when deprecated:
- Being able to select whether recurring task is immediately reset
- Being able to select skip missed events
Will these options be available?

Hello. One issue that legacy recurring tasks in ClickUp have solved for me is the ability to specify the status of a task once it recurs. For example, when using the regular recurring tasks feature, if I set a task to recur when done (instead of on schedule), then as soon as I update its status to "Complete," its due date will get updated to the interval I specified in the recurrence options menu (as expected), but its status automatically gets reset to the first status. I want tasks to remain in the "Done/Complete" status and only get updated to "Due" once the due date actually arrives (via automation). There is no recurring tasks option to tell ClickUp that I don't want a task's status to be automatically reset to "Due".
Similar issues are discussed here:
As well as here:
Here is a screen recording to demonstrate my issue. https://youtu.be/SpBmYjhm1aM
Thank you for your time.

The option to "skip missed events" is fundamental to my workflows.
Setting due dates is also critical.

Need to retain the feature from Legacy Recurring to Change Due Dates

In the legacy recurring settings there was an option to create recurring task with such behavior: after being closed, there was created a copy of a task, but without setting a due date.
I used this option often for some tasks and miss it in a new interface.

Hello. Could you please provide more guidance regarding what is required on the part of admins and users regarding this feature deprecation?
Will existing legacy recurring tasks be automatically converted to the new format?
Is there a way to filter tasks with legacy recurring feature?
Are there cases where admin or users need to pay special attention or edit manually?
Thanks
Zach - ClickUp
Mario Dieguez B.: Admins will not need to do anything necessarily. We'll be doing everything on our end, but we do recommend stopping usage of legacy going forward starting now (if your workflow requires features that only legacy has, then please continue. Like I mentioned before, we'll make sure to port the critical features when we deprecate)
We're still discussing what needs to be done in order to migrate the settings from legacy to the new recurring settings.
There is not a great way to do this today.
