As a consultant, I am added to dozens of workspaces. If a customer starts requiring SSO, it locks me out of all of my other workspaces too. You should be able to access all of the none SSO workspaces without signing into SSO, and at the very least, you should be given the option to leave a workspace that is requiring SSO rather than locking them out of all workspaces.
