Include attachments on email templates

I would like to create an email template on which I can also save attachments so when I go to choose the email template that I want to use to send it already has the attached documents that I need to send out with the message instead of manually uploading the attachment everytime I choose to use the template

This works only if you manually send the email. If you'll send via automation this will not work.

this can actually be done already, I create the email template in a task with the attachments and then save it from there. so this can actually be marked as complete

Sven Arndt: Yes this works now but we can't have an automation with attachments on emails. The attachments are not visible in the emails we sent

6 Stars Cleaning: gave it a test run and while the email in the automation shows the attachment, it does not actually send in the email as described above. Zeb the issue here is not being able to make a email template with an attachment, that works, its having the automation send the attachment with the email, which currently does not happen.

Sven Arndt: Hey Sven! Thank you for clarifying here. Have you already spoken with our technical team via email? If not, could you please send them an email at bugs@clickup.com? It sounds like you're encountering a bug with your email Automations. This way we'll be able to investigate for you and keep you updated when we find the fix!

Nick Potok: So actually we can have an email template with attachments but when we set an email automation, even that we see in the task comments the email sent with attachment, the actual email when I verified in GMail did not have the attachment on it. Strange 🧐 so this should be marked as bug

Nick Potok: did as requested, although I got a email response saying they no longer accept direct email at this address at this email and the ticket will be closed, and then a few seconds later another email saying the request has been received and support will be in contact. so does this email still work or not? should I log a bug, about the bug logging system?
Nick Potok
Sven Arndt: Thank you for letting me know about that! I will get that fixed right away! No need to re-send if you already have emailed. Thanks for working with us on this one!

Nick Potok: Nick, could you please let us know if this was fixed? 😊

6 Stars Cleaning: Thanks for following up. This bug, CLK-2120-- where attachments in the email body cause an error, moving along and I think we'll be able to get it incorporated in the next couple sprints, barring any unforeseen issues.
For reporting bugs going forward, we'll continue to use the form in your in-app help menu, or via email at help@clickup.com! Thank you as always.

Yes! We also need this😊

This request needs more love! This limitation, and the lack of a "merge tag" that would allow us to merge in the <First Name> or other such field specifics really limit the total use case for email automations. I'm sure you'll get there! Zeb Thanks.

Dan King: Hey! Awesome ideas and totally understand how useful adding attachments to an email automation would be.
I do want to note that you can add custom field information tags into automations so that information will be filled with data from the task!
Check out the "dynamic content" section of the article here:

Eric Wightman: Hey Eric, this is great, but unless I construct each task space for the purpose sending email, it's limited in use for sending external emails. Perhaps we could expand the list of references to include the email First Name and Last Name For example, if the email were to: Joe Shmoe <jshmoe@gmail.com> I could assign a dynamic body tag of "Hi <First Name>, I hope this finds you well blah blah"... or even better, expand the dynamic tag sources to be "Space wide" so I could select a list of dynamic tags from the space-list-task framework. In this way, I could be sending emails from my Task Management list and pull in dynamic tag info from, say, my CRM list.
Let me know if that makes sense,
Eric Wightman
Dan King: Makes total sense! Just to clarify, what you're asking for is already a feature! For example, if I have a first name text custom field, I can totally add that like a <first name> merge tag as you described!
You just need to ensure that the Custom Field exists in the area you're making that automation.
That said, it's not really possible to pull information from List A into an email automation for list B but that is good feedback! Maybe rollup fields can help?
Check it out! -

Would be a big addition.
