Hey, Everyone! 👋
Thanks for your feedback and support on this request. We recognize how important it is for our customers to have the ability to perform full backups and safeguard their data, and we’re committed to delivering a solution that meets your needs.
LATEST UPDATE AS OF JAN 2026:
There are 2 primary use cases we are seeing here:
- Full export that can be used to re-import and bulk update data - which we are scoping out as part of this feature request: https://feedback.clickup.com/feature-requests/p/ability-to-export-a-list-and-then-re-upload-into-that-same-list-with-updated-dat
- Periodically backup all Workspace data to an external file/location that can be reloaded in case of corruption/loss of data. We'd like to understand this particular use case more. PLEASE BOOK SOME TIME WITH ME using this Calendly link so that I can understand this particular use case more and can dig into details with you: https://calendly.com/clickup-lchan/templates-and-imports
Thank you!

Lily Chan I think what everyone wants is a one export button that exports all data, docs created, basically everything, where if any issue happens with clickup, they have all the data still.

Import or Export as JSON or XML

I want to be able to export an entire space and then import it without need for manipulating anything. Instead of csv, I suggest you use JSON or XML to retain the structure

What are the updates regarding having a full backup? I've been searching and can see multiple requests have been made about having a backup function, but don't seem to be finding any sort of resolution or timeframe from ClickUp. Surprised this is not already in place given that it appears the only actual backups right now are external, paid methods with other companies.

One-Click Export for All Workspace Data

Subject: Feature Request – One-Click Export for All Workspace Data
Hi ClickUp Team,
I’d like to request a feature that allows users to export all of their workspace data (tasks, lists, docs, attachments, dashboards, etc.) at once with a single click. Currently, exporting each type of data separately is time-consuming and makes it difficult to create a complete backup.
A unified “Export All” option would be extremely helpful for users who want to back up their entire workspace or migrate data. It would save time and provide peace of mind knowing that all information is safely stored.
Thank you for considering this suggestion!
Best regards,
Lily Chan
Alan Chow - thanks for your feedback! I'm merging your request into one of our existing feature requests.

Hi!
I don't understand why custom field are not exported when I use the Space / Workspace-level export. I need a complete export of my data, not just a few fields. I have no time to spend exporting every single Folder one by one; that is tedious and useless work that a computer could do for me.

it would be very useful to have a backup function and the ability to migrate data. I think it is a need for all users and I understand from the comments I read that this type of lack is also the engine that drives many users to change the system. Implement it as soon as possible

Lily Chan YES!!!!! This is so important from a data integrity standpoint, so glad you are working on it.
Just to be sure: It has to be human-readable, has to include attachments, etc.
Really need a FULL backup as opposed to CSV.
Also, I would love to choose if we can download, send to FTP, send to Cloud storage, etc.
