High Level Epic
[from support] I have a feature request that would make a HUGE improvement to at least my workflow! So we work in sprints, and with ClickUp it seems that sprints are best handled as lists, right? And usually in a sprint we deal with multiple epics. But if I want to track the progress of an epic in a portfolio, I have to keep that epic within a list (which is not compatible with how we have to handle sprints as lists), therefor it would be awesome to be able to make a portfolio item based on a tag the same way it's now based on a list! So everything I tag with e.g. Frontend will be under that portfolio. That means I can keep track of a High level epic spread across multiple sprints!

I agree. A high-level Epic with the ability to create hierarchical links to associated Tasks is badly needed in ClickUp. Using Tasks > Subtasks to mimic Epic > Task structure just doesn't cut it as a work-around.

What is the status on this? it has been almost 4 years at this point. Are high level epics going to make it to the product? has it been de prioritized? I was hoping to see something announced at LevelUp.

The current hierarchy is good, but it forces us to not use CU for our campaigns. We have tried workarounds with statuses and everything but we really just need one step above tasks that helps organize. To be more specific, it needs to be COMPLETABLE. We need an Epic level item within lists. Creating a new list to run tasks with their own subtasks is not only hard to track progress and work, but it is incredibly tedious. Checklists don't allow for enough accountability to use them as we would like. A layer above tasks or below subtasks would be amazing.

Zeb Goals dont work with for this need. Because Goals are attached to the list as well, not to the custom tag.
If you look to Scrum:
- You plan Epic (Objective/Goal)
- Then from epics there are User Stories (Key steps to reach the goal)
- From User stories there are Tasks (Very small steps to reach the goal)
All of it is connected to the Epic. So by doing tasks and then completing user stories, you are going toward your goal.
It's kind of done with the goals, BUT with sprints you create a separate List, as you dont want to have everything is one place, because it will be a chaos. It is related to this ticket https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/dependencies-epics
Jira does a great job that every task in a sprint is attached to the final goal (Epic)

Zeb: Goals do not work for me in this use case for a few reasons:
1) Goals are at the top of a workspace.
I have multiple projects that do not, and should not, share or even see the same Epics (Goals).
2) Goals do not appear in any Lists.
Epics need to be prioritized on a board and within different statuses. Goals do not accomplish this.

Waleed Elaghil: if I may, Goals are perfect for high level yearly objectives shared (and shareable) accross teams.
We could use targets (and I actually like the idea of linking "Targets" to big company bets/objectives), but I see some limitations:
- You don't see the progress of your target depending on the task, attached to it, that you start, resolve and so.
- You can't have starting dates or any other field attached to your target
- You can't visualize targets that are linked to your tasks in your lists & boards...
This is clearly the last reason why we can't join ClickUp...
