Group, Sort, and Filter by Relationship field in Views
in progress

Here's a sample use case:
I want to create a list of projects and group them by Client. The Client is a relationship to a task in a list called Clients.
For some reason, I do have the ability to group by some of the linked items, like assignee (in this case I called it "Client Owner").

Hey Everyone!
I have another update. We're currently testing our "Group By" support for relationships internally, and the team has already started working on "Filter by relationships". Here's a quick preview.
I do have a request. We're really trying to improve relationships overall, and we have a quick survey if you have a moment.

Should allow Relationships to be defined at Space or at least the folder level so that the same gets carried over to different lists while moving the tickets from one list to another.
Also, these relationships should be available for filtering in Dashboards as well.
Use Case: I use relationships for managing Epic --> Story relation and I want to carry this relation in all my lists and in Dashboards.

Just putting in a bump for this feature... seems to be the best way to track clients across projects and it doesn't work yet...

Would "filter" also mean being able to use "search tasks" for workspace relationship fields?

Hey Everyone!
Another update here. There's been a lot of interest in early access, so we want to open up the feature to users interested in joining as part of a beta.
If you want to try it out, please submit your email and optional workspace ID in this form. Thanks, everyone!
Early Beta Full
(for now 🙂)Ryan MacAlmon
Ivan VillaI Signed up for the beta, but is this going to be available for other views, i.e. Gantt?signed up
Ivan Villa
Ryan MacAlmon: Yeah, we're working with the team to implement it across other views. For this beta, though, we're limiting it to the List view to gather early feedback.

Ivan Villa when will beta users be added? this feature is huge! our mechanics are excited for it.
Ivan Villa
Hey Tim Kim! We have everything queued up so just waiting on sign off. Monday at the latest :)

UPDATE:
For those who signed up for the early beta, you should start seeing it in your workspace this week. Just a reminder, this early beta focuses on "list views" for "custom relationships." Looking forward to following up after you've had some time to play with it.T

Ivan Villa this works like a charm! Gamechanger! Basically let's Clickup Users create their own basic version of most CMMS software out there. Basic, but still has ClickUps incredible UI and UX. For us, we have now built our own CMMS software that more or less lets us do what we would have to pay FixIt, Upkeep, MaintainX, etc.
THANK YOU!
Just for my own curiosity, rolling out a feature like Group by Relationship, how many man-hours does it take to complete?
..... I imagine the big problem is making sure it works for a million users. which is different for a small startup making a feature for a thousand users.

Ivan Villa I submitted a survey and application a little over a week ago, any chance you can squeeze one more extremely excited, passionate about this feature person into the beta? I am 100% understanding of any bugs or issues there may be. And I am willing to give you very detailed feedback on any insights you would like to know about.
I've been on this ride since 99 and this is the one reason I've been leveraging more powerful relational platforms. Because this feature didn't exist. I made a screen record with ONE idea we are implementing that I know you'll appreciate, if you can take a look please :)

Ivan Villa Just wanted to report back on how helpful the grouping has been. Soooo nice. Filtering, and Bulk Edits will be amazing when they come too. In the meantime at least having a Group By list lets me find the tasks I need in a similar way to a filter as long as I go to the group I need.
The one place you really do lose the benefit of a filter is when you need "contains" logic. Because each group is the unique bundle of related items. So all tasks with a specific relationship won't show together if there is more than one.
You guys may want to consider adding a "color by" option on the relationship record in the future as well. You definitely do lose a little of the "pretty" factor when using relationships versus custom fields.
Thanks for the early access!!!

Ivan Villa Thanks for this progress! We'd also like to see these changes reflected in the Dashboards, so that we can exploit the relationships when displaying the graphs. At present, we are obliged to maintain 2 fields for the same information:
- A drop-down list field for use in the charts.
- A relationship-type field relevant to data management, but not usable in Dashboards.

Ivan Villa The video feature seems great, but I can't see my relationships under the "Group by" drop-down menu...
Pierre Becher
Ivan Villa thanks for the update. Will "filter by" feature also include the "Linked Tasks" relationship which is not a custom but a default type of relationship?
Jake Spirek
Ivan Villa Thanks for sharing the progress! Will be super helpful!

Would this work allow Relationships to be used in charts as an axis or sort by option?
Michael Montefusco
I am soooo happy this is planned. I can't believe this isn't already baked into the app. This is foundational!
Lukas Moser
Ivan Villa does this also include support for rollup fields?
Les
This grouping is a must.

I think it would be great to also be able to have an option for the relationship field to limit it to only one relationship and have lookup filters for the relationship to only map to specific items.
