Global assign to me by default
mike@lensandhat.com
I'm config'd as a personal team and tasks being auto-assigned to me is great!
But subtasks, and checklists on the web app, and tasks created on android aren't auto-assigned. [Edit: it looks like subtasks are auto-assigned.]
It would save a click (and a few brain calories) if the assignment was global.

yes please :)

Yup. There should be an option to have tasks assigned to me by default without me having to set up an automation to do it or having to click several times every time I create a task in my personal Workspace.

Bump.
Update: see reply
Update2: Sometimes tasks do not get assigned to yourself in personal workspace mode, seems to be a bug. I also have to manually assign to myself when creating tasks in the mobile app.
I just started using ClickUp for a Personal workspace, and would really like this feature. The free-tier is great, and being able to use automations on a quota is good, BUT not if every single task uses a credit just to assign to myself, the only user!
I am a very forgetful and easily distracted person by nature, I pretty much rely on a tool like this to manage my personal life and projects more efficiently. I create A LOT of tasks daily.
It's clear to me that the tool was originally designed for business/project teams in mind based on the nomenclature and features present, rather than personal users, but god damn this has nearly everything I need.
This is basically forcing free-tier users to upgrade if they want to get any use out of automations (which I'm sure most do!). Does not look good for prospective Personal customers! Might as well have not even made automations available to free-tier if you were going to do us like this.
Please add this as an out-of-the box feature, for Personal users at least, so we can save automation credits. Or maybe increase the quota?
Other than that, thank you for the great product!

I may have been mistaken about things not getting assigned to me without the automation.
Seems like Personal workspaces are the "solo mode" you're talking about.
I just tested, and yeah assignee is automatically set to myself when starting to create a new task, but I am unsure how I got so many tasks created without myself as an assignee.
Regardless, watcher/assignee automations are set by default in some templates when I was playing around initially and it immediately ate into my credits lol.

Brandon Villagran: Even in personal workspace mode, tasks can bizarrely slip through unassigned. I've seen this most with subtasks, when I'm inputting many at a time, often several will end up unassigned. In my opinion, personal workspace mode shouldn't even allow the user to assign tasks—they should automatically be assigned to
the one and only user

Ash: Yes! I actually just had that happen to me today! I thought I did something wrong, but I guess it was indeed just the system.

Everyone is suggesting we use Automation, but it shouldnt be the only way for that. Except the most expensives plans (wich are impracticable in countries like Brazil, considering Exchange Rates) the others has only 100 automations by month.
Its such a basic functionality to rely on such expensive feature.

Although Automations are a great "Work Around" I have to create the Automation for Every Space. "Or so it seems, unless I'm doing something wrong" This really should be something that is just a checkbox and automatically assigns for all tasks I create unless I otherwise change it. I really shouldn't have to do an automation for this. It could even be something as simple as choosing who the default "FOR" is in a space when creating a new task. I often have the need for it to be me in most spaces, but might need for the default to be someone else in another space. The automation would be great for that I suppose.

I actually just found this exact setting under the Spaces -> Automations, and it's absolutely perfect! My bad! I apologize for not noticing it sooner. I should have read Jolee Evans Comment. My bad! Great work ClickUp!

Bobby Bush: Hi, sorry but I don't see that. Under Settings/My Person Workspace/Spaces I just see a list of spaces and no Automations section that I can find. Am I in the right place?

For Personal Workspace mode to even
allow
tasks to not be assigned to me feels insane. I've been using Personal Workspace mode since it was introduced (years
ago), and to this day I'll have tasks slip through the cracks because somehow they weren't assigned to me.Right off the bat, when I'm creating a new task, and I have to tab through the "Assignee" field (which I used to be able to just hit Enter and confirm the default assignee as myself, but now, when I hit enter, it somehow
deselects
me and leaves the task unassigned) is an unnecessary invitation for error. Why even provide an editable "Assignee" field for tasks in Personal Workspace mode?

It's really annoying to click an additional 3 times for each of the 15-30 tasks I make during meetings with my boss in my personal workspace. I've forgotten stuff EVEN When I set a deadline but forget to assign it to myself and it doesn't show up in Home or Noti's. Please do this.

Very much agree! We're evaluating ClickUp for our team and we want people to be able to add their own tasks, but it's several extra clicks each time for them to get self-assigned so tasks can get "lost" if people forget because the person who added them doesn't see them on their main view.
It's great that we can designate a default assignee for a whole list, but it would be better if there were a way it could be set to "unassigned" if one person is doing all the data entry for the team and if the "default default" would be to assign to the person adding the task.
