Gantt view: Color tasks by Custom field/Tag or location

There's a big difference between the status of a task and the task itself.
While a task can have different status like "to do", "feedback" or "completed" it can be of various nature (depending on the business, team size, etc.). There are lovely ways to categorise (and color) that with tags or custom fields in list view, yet ClickUp lacks the possibility to color the tasks in Gantt view.
Using the Gantt view as our planning tool, we would like to color the tasks by tag or custom field rather than have them change their color once they're set to "complete".

I agree, current usability of ClickUp's Gantt view is very limited because of lack of colouring options. I hope it will change soon.

Agree, I just bought the upgraded clickup with the intention to use more gantt charts only to find out, I can't change the colors of the bars... there are people asking for this since 2020, and its not addressed yet? damn.. seems like I made a bad choice.

Please can we have the ability to colour tasks by custom field on the Gantt view - this would make it so much easier for project stakeholders to visualise different aspects of large projects.

common use case is sharing a gantt chart with a client and you want the internal tasks and the client tasks to be showing in different colors for easier visualisation. currently this is not really possible and we always have to misuse status to enforce the different colors.

Absolutely - we have project codes as a custom field which are color coded and while Gantt is the most useful view for project planning, we currently can't see which task is under which project code by color or even by making the custom field visible.

It would be a game changer if we could color-code our gantt views by custom field, it would make what we want to achieve so much more flexible - our specific example is that our tasks have "types", so we have a custom field for different types of tasks that we can filter in and out of views but when we want to see all of them in context in the gantt view, it would be so useful to be able to see the different types of tasks visually

This would be amazing. I have a custom field based on a personal set of priorities - Quarter Goals, Weekly Commitments, etc. To be able to quickly see which task on the Gantt chart is which type, would be immensely helpful for me.

The colour coding would really useful by assignee / project owner so we could get a bird's eye view of who is doing what and when in the calendar and Gantt formats ..
