Since being "upgraded" to V4, Clickup is now VERY slow to load in the browser version. It now starts with a loading screen of an animated logo for a few seconds before my lists appear at all, and then I have to wait for them to load too (like usual). It's now really frustrating when I just want to quickly open Clickup and add a task for later. With this and the continued worsening UX with each version, I am seriously looking at alternatives now!

My native clickup (MacBook Pro M4) remains “choppy” in the entire GUI. Editing documents is becoming a hassle. Is there a way to remove animation or something like that to make the interface more fluid?
Charlotte Mckeon
Jarl Helin agree, I have the same problem and it prevents flow in work process. Driving me crazy!

A lot of the feeling of slowness comes from the animations and noise that play before things finish loading. I’d mind the speed less if it were clearer when the page was actually ready, but the animations just draw more attention to the wait — and make it harder to know when I can start working.

Akiva Goldberger: Hi Akiva! Thank you for your feedback. I was wondering which loading animations specifically you are referring to? Is it the ones that are grey bars on the page or the icon illustration that pops up?

Maggie Chan You got it right — it’s both of them. The icon animation happens first, and then the grey bars appear for almost everything that loads (statuses, tasks, fields, etc.), and together they make the whole experience feel slower and confusing.

Akiva Goldberger Thank you Akiva! Will take a look into reducing the loading states

would love some localisation so on a plane i can at lease add and organise tasks and projects (essentially everything that isn't AI). This would greatly improve speed of the desktop app (though i guess it's essentially a web app so may need total redo).

I confirm extreme slowness both from the WEB (Brave or Chrome or other browsers) and from the DESKTOP APP.
I have detected several blocks on access and the thing amazes me because of the APP designed for CLICKUP.
I'm using mac with updated OS.

I can share a bit of my knowledge:
The main issue is either using Chrome with any extensions or using Safari.
Especially AdBlock in Chrome is an issue and extra expecially those that try to block content elements since the app does tons of layout changes.
In Safari, I'm not quiet sure. The Layout engine of safari is slow but another big issue is the amount of forced hardware layers. Chrome does ignore them for a few years now but Safari does not.
The main focus of the dev team should be to reduce redraws and test removing old layout hacks. In the mean time: Disable most extensions in chrome for clickup tabs. Even stuff like Password managers can be an issue.

Please take that issue very serious Clickup, the performance ist often a big problem in many cases..

WTF is going on with performance? Clickup is adding tons of lag to my workflows. Tickets take over 10 seconds to process. Look at these profiles:
It's really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really bad. Sometimes I can't load assignees, and various dropdowns are practically unusable.
This has to get addressed.

We’ve recently migrated parts of our CRM to ClickUp after previously using Monday.com, and while ClickUp offers some excellent features, we’re starting to regret the switch. Performance has been a major issue, both the desktop app and browser versions load painfully slowly, making the user experience feel like using a web browser in the late '90s.
If this continues, we’ll have no choice but to look for alternatives or go back to Monday.com. The lag is making it increasingly difficult for me to advocate for ClickUp internally, despite its otherwise strong feature set.

In terms of performance, we may not apply it in the end
- Takes time to create task lists
- It takes a long time for arrows to appear in copied gants
