Currently, when a task in ClickUp spans multiple days, the estimated time is automatically split evenly across those days (e.g., a 10-hour estimate over two days becomes 5 hours per day). While this works for evenly distributed work, it often doesn’t reflect real-world workflows where effort varies significantly from day to day.
For example, a task estimated at 8 hours across two days might realistically require 3 hours on Day 1 and 5 hours on Day 2. However, ClickUp automatically assigns 4 hours per day, which makes the Workload view inaccurate once actual time is tracked.
Feature Request: Introduce the ability to manually distribute estimated time across individual days for tasks that span multiple days.
Suggested functionality: Allow users to set custom daily time estimates instead of automatic equal splitting.
Provide an option such as: Manual distribution
When manual mode is enabled, users can define something like:
Day 1 → 3h
Day 2 → 5h
Why this matters: Real tasks rarely require equal effort each day. It improves workload accuracy and resource planning, prevents misleading workload spikes or gaps when time tracking differs from the automatic split.
This would make workload management in ClickUp much more realistic for teams whose tasks naturally vary in daily effort.
