Feature request: Limit the Premium AI usage banner to one appearance per usage period
T
TJ
Summary
I am requesting a technical limit that allows the Premium AI usage banner above Brain’s text input to appear only once per usage period, regardless of app redraws, page navigation, or refreshes. After I dismiss it, the dismissal should persist until the usage period resets or the displayed reset date passes.
Current behavior
I am using the ClickUp desktop app on Windows. When I reach the Premium AI limit, an info banner displays above the Brain text input with information such as:
Premium AI limit hit · Switched to GPT-5.6 Luna · Resets <insert date>
The banner includes a See upgrades button and an X that allows me to dismiss it. However, after I dismiss the banner, it returns whenever the page redraws or refreshes. As a result, I have to repeatedly dismiss the same notice during normal use.
Why this is a problem
I do appreciate knowing that I have exceeded my Premium AI usage, which model Brain switched to, and when my usage will reset. I am not asking ClickUp to hide this information permanently in this location.
The problem is that the banner takes up space directly above the Brain text input and reduces the available space where Brain output and conversation content appear. It also adds a continuous extra dismissal step to my normal workflow. Each individual dismissal may only take a few seconds, but those small interruptions add up over time and repeatedly distract me from the work I am trying to do.
This is especially frustrating because I have already acknowledged the notice by dismissing it. Making me dismiss the same banner again after every redraw or refresh provides no additional value and makes the notice feel unnecessarily intrusive.
Requested behavior
Please place a technical limit on this banner so that it can appear only once per usage period. Once I dismiss it, ClickUp should remember that choice across app redraws, page refreshes, navigation, and normal use of the Windows desktop app that I am currently on -- per device or per app instance is perfectly fine -- so long as it is once. Ideally, the dismissal should remain effective until the current usage period ends or the displayed reset date is reached.
The existing orange ⚠️ indicator at the top of the chat is more than enough to preserve visibility that the Premium AI limit has been reached. That indicator could remain visible and clickable, allowing me to reopen the full notice when I want to review the model change, reset date, or upgrade options. Please push back on any marketing folks trying to encourage further license spending by expanding this practice since money doesn't magically appear because working customers are annoyed -- fun fact, the ones that get annoyed are not usually the ones that control spend.
This approach would preserve transparency and ensure that users can still access the details, while preventing the same banner from repeatedly consuming screen space and interrupting the normal workflow. It's minimal but noticeable. (e.g., death by a thousand paper cuts)
