We know many of you have been eagerly awaiting this functionality for some time. With 3.0, we laid the groundwork for the new Email + inbox feature, but there is still work ahead.
I can give you an update since our team has put in a lot of work to improve our email service and handle the higher demand more effectively. With more emails expected to flow through ClickUp we wanted to make sure that we had the buffer to take on more functionality.
We also have a significant migration planned for our Microsoft email customers later this year, which should open up many more possibilities, but that part is still going through some back and forth on planning.
As some of you have mentioned, perfecting this feature will involve multiple steps, which is why we do not have an ETA just yet.
We'll keep you updated as we develop more features, but please keep sharing your feedback and use cases. At the end of the day, our goal is to enhance your communication needs, and since not everyone has the same requirements, understanding where you face challenges helps us get a clearer picture.

Update please. Everyone in every department at every level everywhere who uses clickup needs this.

No update since May? This a very important feature. I would love to use the email in click-up much more. But it the replies always come in garbled with many links. This makes using the email feature from within click-up very cumbersome.

This, for me, is the game changer for ClickUP. The "one app for all" aspiration can only be fulfilled if ClickUP can be the front-end engine for handling email without having to use the underlying engine. We haven't had a pinned update for 7 months now and I have been trying to discover where ClickUP is at in this process for the last 30 minutes.

To improve workflow efficiency, client communication, and privacy, we propose the following enhancements to ClickUp's email integration:
Retain Current Email Functionality:
Ensure that emails sent from ClickUp can continue to use predefined workspace email addresses (e.g., contact@xyt.com or clients@xyt.com).
This centralised approach simplifies communication for our over 400 individual clients, ensuring they do not need to track emails from multiple team members.
Central Inbox Feature:
Introduce a centralised inbox where emails can be received directly into ClickUp, even if the email subject changes. This feature would streamline email management and provide a single source for client communications.
Privacy-Centric Central Inbox:
Unlike traditional team inboxes, where all emails are visible to everyone, ensure the central inbox respects client privacy.
Privacy should be achieved by allowing team members to view and interact only with emails and chats related to the tasks/clients they are assigned to.
While we currently achieve this level of privacy using "Me Mode" and task-sharing settings, a dedicated privacy-focused implementation for the central inbox would be invaluable.
Individualised Email Option:
Provide an option for team members to send emails using their own work email addresses (e.g., tim@xyt.com or lisa@xyt.com).
This feature should function separately from the central inbox to maintain workflow clarity and client privacy.
Allow individualised emails to link to relevant tasks/clients within ClickUp, but keep them distinct from the centralised email structure.
Lock System to Centralised Inbox Option:
Add an option to lock the system to use only centralised inboxes for all communications.
This would ensure a unified communication system across the organisation, further simplifying workflows and enhancing consistency for client interactions.
These features would significantly enhance ClickUp's email functionality by offering both flexibility and efficiency while maintaining strong privacy controls and enabling organisations to choose the system that works best for their needs.

I will add that the Hive software does this right now. Check that out for examples! Ivan Villa

This feature is a the one among those I can't wait to see and start working with. I think that there are some must have functionalities like: delay send, send on working hours and auto replays

This would be a major efficiency boost for ClickUp as most communication still unfortunately starts on email. We try to avoid email but it is what most people are used to.

With the new email update, will Rich Text be available for the email body? Auto-forwarding our emails to an Email list creates HTML text in the description section. Creating and replying to an email in the Activity to continue the thread is fine, but when the email comes over in HTML formatting, searching through all the junk is difficult to find the main point or even highlighted, bolded, etc. sections that my Client might have responded with.
