We know many of you have been eagerly awaiting this functionality for some time. With 3.0, we laid the groundwork for the new Email + inbox feature, but there is still work ahead.
I can give you an update since our team has put in a lot of work to improve our email service and handle the higher demand more effectively. With more emails expected to flow through ClickUp we wanted to make sure that we had the buffer to take on more functionality.
We also have a significant migration planned for our Microsoft email customers later this year, which should open up many more possibilities, but that part is still going through some back and forth on planning.
As some of you have mentioned, perfecting this feature will involve multiple steps, which is why we do not have an ETA just yet.
We'll keep you updated as we develop more features, but please keep sharing your feedback and use cases. At the end of the day, our goal is to enhance your communication needs, and since not everyone has the same requirements, understanding where you face challenges helps us get a clearer picture.

Will this allow us to use html to create better looking emails, too? It'd be great for marketing.

Hello,
We have created a ticketing space within ClickUp, which serves as a hub for various email addresses from four different businesses. All emails sent to these addresses are redirected to different lists within this ticketing space.
Here are the improvements we are currently seeking:
- We need an easier way to forward tasks via email. The email should include the subject, content, and attached files. Currently, we have to manually copy and paste the content and download and upload files in the email section.
- In the email section, ClickUp should automatically recognize the email creator and suggest it as an email. Currently, we use Zapier to add the email creator as an email custom field to suggest the email when we write an email.
- We need a more robust thread management system. At the moment, we use an ID (custom ID) in the email subject (which then becomes the task name) to match and add replies as subtask of the original/parent email. This is done through automation in Zapier. However, we need a more robust solution within ClickUp itself. The activity part is not very user-friendly, and it becomes chaotic if multiple people respond to the same email.
- We need an improved way to visualize the response timeline.
- We need to distinguish whether an email was sent to estimate@society.com or estimate+something@society.com. Even if we redirect emails to the ClickUp list, we should be able to see if someone used different destination addresses.
- We need better email templates. These templates should allow us to include fields from the task, like a custom ID.
- We need a way to include the task (email) content, similar to how email history is included when we reply to an email from our email client.
- We need a more efficient way to find files attached to a subtask or task.
Globally, this is what we need. I may have forgotten some things, but if this is addressed, it should be a good enhancement.
These improvements will greatly enhance our productivity and streamline our processes. Thank you for your attention to these matters.

Any Update here

In the lates clickup release this was mentioned as upcoming feature. Does this mean that this may change to In progress soon?

The thing keeping us from using the M365 email integration now is having to have the added email appended to our emails for it to show up in ClickUp.
We do not want our clients to see / have another random email tagged.
Somehow Hubspot is able to connect to M365 and pull in and out the conversations/threads/replies without having a tracking email on every single email.
If the email functionality was like Hubspot with M365 we would use the hell out of it.

Zapier + ClickUp API accomplishes this now. It used to be impossible for non-devs to even understand this, but with ChatGPT, it'll tell you exactly how to do this, at least for client ticketing.

The email functionality is very basic now, and I use it for specific tracking purposes. However, I keep working on it because I think it could have one of the broadest impacts on communication, especially with an AI assistant who could read a response and summarize if some task can be addressed. My biggest complaint at the moment is not being able to reply to an email "widescreen" instead of within the smaller comments section of the task. Oh...and my company email uses the google

A very important feature that you must be working on is to not let the quoted text be repeated with every response in a thread. But at the same time the system should see if the latest response has inline responses i.e. written as answers below the text of the original questions in the last email, for eg, rather than written as new text. Not looking for inline responses leads to a lot of issues.

Can't wait, the email system is terrible at the moment. There are two persistent bugs at least which have existed for over a year and have receive no updates - To and subject fields are not populated in the inbox section of ClickUp, and whenever I go to reply to or send an email for the first time on a given day, I have to click "link email", then my email details are already there and my email address is added, but if I'm trying to reply to a thread when I do this, I have to back out of it and click reply again to make sure the to and subject fields are populated again. It's a nightmare and it's been like this for ages. Can you at least sort out the bugs before adding new features, it's extremely frustrating to use.

I'm not as pissed as Ralph Stokes is but I do agree with him :D
Currently, sending an email reply to an incoming mail within a task requires more steps than necessary - it's generating a new blank email (NOT auto-populating the "subject" and "to" fields). Furthermore, I'm afraid that it will create a new email thread on the recipient's side inbox which will end up weird for the recipient.
That being said, sometimes the good old "refresh" fixes this issue for me.

Thanks for that suggestion Markuss, I only use the desktop app (mac) and the refresh doesn't seem to fix it for me....

Ivan Villa is it planned to be able to keep Gmail as my email client but see correspondence propagated to ClickUp on my CRM contacts/organizations? Similar to the HubSpot-Gmail integration: https://ecosystem.hubspot.com/marketplace/apps/sales/sales-enablement/gmail

We're currently evaluating CRMs. One thing our reps really appreciate is HubSpot's "Save to HubSpot" button embedded within Gmail, so they can opt in to which emails propagate to the CRM, while leaving some conversations private. Is this type of integration under consideration?
