November 2025 Update
Thank you all so much for continuing to share your thoughts and enthusiasm around a fully integrated email service within ClickUp. This year for email, we've been focused on strengthening our email foundation, improving our infrastructure and reliability to set us up for future possibilities. Please continue to share your use cases and what an ideal solution looks like for you. Your input helps guide our long-term vision for email. We’ll keep you updated here with any new developments.

When we chose ClickUp as a platform, we expected to be able to use it as a full-fledged service ticketing system (facilities, IT) that could accept email tickets and not rely on the use of forms. "Email to list" exists but this method has limitations that make it unusable. Most significantly:
- Cc'd parties are dropped from the incoming email, so when we reply, only the sender will receive a reply. We cannot even see the cc'd recipients.
- When replying, we have to create an entirely new email thread with a new subject and body. Worse, there doesn't seem to be a way to insert the body of the sender's email into our outgoing email reply. Thus, we find ourselves having to say 'I'm writing you back about your email about XYZ,' rather than just having their original email to reference.
These are the two most significant factors prohibiting adoption by the teams at our organization which has committed to a multi-year enterprise license. We need to see a much more robust and thoughtful email integration so ClickUp can be used for IT tickets / facilities tickets / work requests across teams.

being able to not only write an email from the comment box, but format it with fonts so that it appears identical to what i am currently sending out to clients.

Hello - email in clickup is gamechanger for my workflows. Next would like to see better integration of contact lists so I can easily add emails.

I'd love to see 2 way email sync similar to how Pipedrive has it. This feature would allow you to stay within ClickUp (with your gmail or other email account), both receive / send emails and tag emails to certain projects directly in the platform. It would be great for ClickUp's email to:
- provide ability for users to email directly within the ClickUp ecosystem
- bulk tagging: ability to tag several emails to a project at once
- email templates within the email interface
- mark certain emails as private / not (locked to specific people, not viewable by entire team, even if they've been tagged to a project)
- emails should have alternate banding (to make it easier to read), like in Gmail

Hemant Kumar Let's get it done! This is another HUGE thing that will massively improve clickup and has been needed for ages. Excited to see it finally move forward a nudge :)

ClickUp has all the shiny Super Agents these days, and don't get me wrong - they are nice. But the fact that only SOME of my emails - those started in ClickUp - are captured and are "live" makes ClickUp NOT the one source of information. I never can be sure that a project has ALL of the associated information with it, because there are always those emails out there from clients that the client initiated, and therefore there is no easy way to get them into and FUNCTIONAL from within ClickUp. ClickUp can't be the one source of truth without the email working differently
Shahen Halebian
Sara Yen You'd have to cc the email address for that specific ClickUp task in the response email to the original client email. That's the best way to get that thread into the task in ClickUp.
Sara Yen
Shahen Halebian Please explain, because Brain says "there is no built-in feature that allows you to simply cc the email address for a specific ClickUp task in a Gmail reply to automatically add the email thread to that task." The only way is to use the Chrome extension, which does not make it a "live" email thread, just merely an attachment in the project. If you have further information, that would be great.
Shahen Halebian
Sara Yen So the initial email coming from a client outside of ClickUp I'm not aware of a way to get that into ClickUp as the email originates. But, once you receive that email in your regular inbox, you can reply to that email and cc the email address for that specific task in ClickUp. To find the email for that specific task, open the task, click on the 3 dots at the top right (ellipses) and click on "send email to task" and then copy that email address and add it to the cc of the email reply. Once you send the reply, that reply email will go into that task, and anytime someone replies all to that email trail, it will be recorded into the task. And once it's in ClickUp, you can start replying to the email thread within ClickUp instead of your Outlook, gmail, etc.

Shahen Halebian - exactly, the workflow you describe here absolutely sucks. Can't wait for email V2!

Been following this thread for awhile. https://casso.app/news/clickup-chrome-extension-not-working-fixes
Covers what's broken, why, native workarounds, and a 3rd party solution. Hope it helps someone.

Erra Faye Zabat There's a LOT of people clamoring for this, and have been for years. There's plenty right here to suggest this should be on the roadmap.
If ClickUp is going to be an All-In-One solution, I'd love to not have to leave it, even if it's just a basic web client page to get to my mail. More functionality would be even better, but throw us a bone here, please.
