Make it possible to: Drag subtasks out of a task, and drag a task in another task to make it a subtask. It will be great especially while planning projects.

Hi. IF i dont want to have this feature, is it any way for me to freeze the task from being dragged into a subtask? Having issues where tasks accidentally being dragged to become a subtask

Now you're able to easily move subtasks by simply dragging one task onto another!
This update also gives you the ability to quickly rearrange your subtasks by dragging and dropping them where they should go 😃🚀

Waleed Elaghil: any chance this will be implemented in Board view?

Hey Hugh Howie! I would say probably yes, but we really haven't explored how it will work yet.

Drag and Drop Feature for tasks to Subtasks
Courtney Hernandez
I'm fairly new to clickup, so this maybe a feature already.
It would be nice to be able to drag a list task under another list task and pull it slightly to the right to indicate that we want it to be a subtask under the task we drag it under.
I've noticed the only way to make a task into a subtask is to click on it and then click "convert to subtask" - then we have to travel through dozens folders and tasks to get to the parent task we want
I know if I click on a parent task initially I can create a subtask there, or I can easily press add new subtask if I have my subtasks expanded.
This suggestion is only for the ability to easily drag a list task under another list task and convert it into a subtask instantly without all the digging and extra clicking.
let me know if something like this exists, if not, make it so please :D!

Drag task to become a subtask of another task
Géza Molnár
Drag a task_A over task_B to make _A a subtask of _B.
Currently : works through the menu - lots of clicks, slow, annoying :-(
New way : I'm happy :-)
Also, drag a subtask out of its parent_task and make it a task.
/...and provide infinit hierarchy, too :-)/

Improve Task & Subtask Creation/Re-Positioning

Problem: Convert to Task/Subtask are kind of a hassle, especially when I want to make a simple change within the list I'm in.
Solution: Enable us to drag or snap in or out to signify a task or Subtask (Workflowy does an amazing job of this).
It would be easier than having to type a task, then click the add Subtask button, then add the Subtasks, then repeat. I could simply type a task, type the next one, drag it in and the ones to follow would automatically be subtasks as well (until dragged back out).
Problem: Subtasks can't easily be repositioned to go under another list item.
Solution: Make Subtasks completely draggable as tasks are.

Zeb I see you commented on the nested subtask feature request that's in progress, so wanted to draw your attention to this related request. I count at least nine similar/duplicate feature requests which should probably be merged. Any word on whether drag and drop for subtasks is on the roadmap or will be implemented when nested subtasks are rolled out?
Zeb
Josh Sommer: It's in our backlog but I think we can get it done the next several releases. I just increased priority!
