Display task age / days in column
Michał Jaciubek
Similarly to what Jira is doing on their Kanban boards, I would LOVE to be able to quickly see how long a task has been stuck in a certain column. You can see how Jira handles that here – https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/customize-cards/ – but any visual indicator would do.
USE CASE: Sometimes we have a lot of tasks on boards, especially in larger teams and when we're dealing with plenty of ad hoc requests. A way to determine the task age at a glance would help us see if there's anything on the board that's been stuck for more than necessary.

Full info of the workaround if you're on a plan with a decent automations/month allowance. (Lucas mentioned it and I've gone ahead and built it - working ok so far!)
- Add a custom date field called "Stage Changed"
- Add an automation for any stage change to set the "Stage Changed" field to "Today" (pictured)
- Add a custom formula field called "Age" with the following formula:
days(today(),field("Stage Changed"))

Lloyd Vaughan - have you by chance figured out how to get the average age of tickets. I am using this same formula mentioned below (DAYS(today(),field("Date created")) to populate an 'age' field but have yet to figure out an average age.

Hi, I use this formula to calculate it in a column: DAYS(today(),field("Date created"))

We're missing this so much in our team! This information is very useful and today the only way to know it is to check the activity log of each task. This is time consuming and not practical at all.
To add up in this idea: "time in status" and "date of status change" could be variables, in ways that you could use it to calculate custom fields or automate the list. It would be useful, for example, for cards to automatically update its due date, based on the date of status change and the time estimated for the task.

Hey @M@michal-jaciubek! This is indeed useful. I'll make sure to surface this to the team 🙂

In fact Wrike also has this on its paltry board view, so would welcome seeing this in ClickUp!

Could be helpful to know so you can nudge someone or reassign.

Would be greatly appreciated from our Team!

Yes please, this is something I’ve really missed as well as a dev lead after moving to an organization that now uses clickup (coming from Jira).
We’re having custom metrics (pure technical KPIs) for our teams that would really benefit from being able to filter tasks and measure time between custom statuses.
Ofc that’s different from just having the current status age and would require keeping the history of each status.
If keeping the history is a problem just having the current age would be a start to make blocked tasks more obvious.
