Dependent Custom Fields (options depend on other options)
George
We would like the ability to make custom fields dependent on each other in the same way that tasks are now.

Dependent (nested) Dropdown/Label values
Grant Goyette
I would like to be able to have a dependent drop down list where when I enter in a criteria, it changes what is shown in the dropdown list. Lets say I choose a specific Vendor, I want to be able to filter my Items to Order list by that Vendor. Maybe some sort of relationship or lookup could be used as well. Being able to Tag items in the dropdown list would also accomplish this so when I type in the tag name in the search bar it shows only those items.
Vendor
A
B
C
Items to Order
Vendor A Item 1
Vendor A Item 2
Vendor B Item 1
Vendor B Item 2
Vendor C Item 1
Vendor C Item 2
When I select Vendor A, I would like to only see in my dropdown list.
Vendor A Item 1
Vendor A Item 2

Custom Field Logic > Other Custom Field
Allison Cherry
I would love the capability to tie custom fields together with logic. When one custom field is selected, based on the choice made another custom field has distilled options based on the first choice.
Example, user chooses from 1 of 4 options in custom field for 'audience'. If audience is 'employees' then another custom field is populated with choices of what type of employees: Executive, General, Prospective.

Way to have label options filtered based on an entry in another field

So essentially Lets say I have Field A and Field B. In Field A I indicate a software. In Field B, I would then be able to choose from a list of features that software has.
Essentially I would like a way for whatever I choose for Field A, to affect what I can see in field B.
Options for implementation
- way of filtering a long list from another table somewhere, or
- reference a list in field A and Have field b show all the entries in the list that is chosen in field A.
- Have a new field type that has 2 layers of options, both of which are recorded. So essentially I could have 3 options and each have 3 sub options. When I select the first option, it records that option with an arrow at the end to indicate it's the parent option, then you select a second option which is connected to the first creating a pill shape that has an arrow (see attached image)
The last two options are preferred as they seem more straight forward to the user.
I actually have several ways I'd like to use this functionality were it available so hope it's something others might want too.

Nested dropdowns

Ability to have nested dropdown feature - to keep things clean and organized (rather than having to create separate custom fields for each dropdown item, and then have separate views to filter them, and so on...)

Cascading custom field - parent and child "Dropdown"

How might it be to have a cascading dropdown control as custom flied.
Problem:
You have data which is structured into to levels (parent and child) and you would like to ease the selection of child values.
Solution:
A cascading "Dropdown" as custom field, which allows you to select the parent value first and the related child second.
Example:
Your parents are offices location and your children are a rooms.
New York Office (parent) > room-A (child), room-B (child), room-C (child)
Rom Office (parent) > room-01 (child), room-02 (child), room-03 (child)
Berlin Office (parent) > room-201 (child), room-202 (child), room-203 (child)
As a user you are able to select the office location "Rom Office" first, which reduces the child values to room-01 (child), room-02 (child) and room-03 (child). Then you are able to select your child vales, e.g. "room-02", as wanted.
This is a simple HTML example: https://codepen.io/nitinz/pen/ozmvqE

I was looking for the same Feature and later found its not available. Custom Fields with logic Will help Creating better workflow and would make it easy for user to select subcategories based on category they choose.
Example: if I choose Category "Cloud" it shows another custom field for network only like " Azure, AWS, GCP", etc. And if i choose "Hardware" is shows another custom field "LEDs, Montiors, Laptop, Tabs, Pinpads" etc.

"Cascade" type custom field multi level
Would be great to have multilevel custom fields as cascades.
For each level 1 option, allow to select a level 2 option. We should be able to select for which upper level an option will be available for.
Will add additional info in the next days...

Hi Caroline Ginty! I saw you merged my separate post (directly below this comment, if sorted by Newest First) with this post, but the requests appear unrelated to me. Just flagging in case of any confusion. Thanks!
