Dashboards –– Protected View

I would love to see, as I'm sure others would, a "Protected View" option for dashboards.
This is important for not only preventing others from modifying a dashboard but in particular for better usability. When using dashboards on a touch screen device, the narrow margins between widgets and the outer perimeter of the dashboard viewport, combined with the necessity of having to touch the screen to scroll, make it
very
easy to inadvertently move or resize a widget when attempting to scroll. Log In

Hi everyone! We are trying to unify edit mode and protect mode so that we can continue moving towards having Dashboards in the sidebar hierarchy and having a more consistent experience between standalone Dashboards and Dashboard views. Is there any opposition to getting rid of edit mode and JUST having protect mode so that it's aligned with all other places in the app?

Lily Chan can the list within the dashboard be edited in protect mode. For example, can you add another column to a list (so that a custom field will show up). Also who has permissions to unprotect the dashboard?

Lily Chan No issue if you unify them but please don't remove protect/edit view like it was removed in home. Now the new home is basically useless on any touch screen device (specially android tablets) as every touch on the home screen resizes the cards rather than moving giving me scrolling feedback.
Guy Mannerings
Lily Chan No issue, as long as you can still interact with the Dashboard widgets/cards in a basic manner when protect mode is on (e.g., scroll views or click Tasks).

Freeze dashboard view so widgets cannot be dragged

When working with portfolio widgets, we are finding that they often get accidentally dragged out of order. Is there a way to lock a dashboard view (widgets cannot be moved) so that this does not happen?

Protected views would make these much more functional as people could add/change filters for their own one time usage without throwing off the defaults that the admin created wants set.

Thanks for the feedback on this one. While we added the Edit mode, we do acknowledge that protected view (which is inline with our docs/views) would be a further enhancement. Marking this open

I use my dashboard for tasks that have to be completed by volunteers who know nothing about ClickUp except how to mark a task complete. Invariably one of them manages to click on the very narrow bar at the top of the task which takes them away from the dashboard to the actual task list which is not filtered and so looks very different from what they are use to seeing on the Dashboard. And of course they have no idea how to get back to the dashboard. Extremely annoying!!. I need those links at the top of the task to be "frozen" if the task is in the dashboard view! Please!!

Hey everyone! We have added View/Edit Mode to Dashboards to prevent accidental changes!
Matt Keller
Nick Potok: this is great!

Nick Potok: This is not enough to prevent some numbskull from going into edit mode and screwing up the dashboard. I am befuddled why the same functions for views are not available for dashboards, including editing of fields without having to go into the actual task.

This feature is needed ASAP so the dashboards are not modified by employees who only need view access
Matt Tungate
Totally agreed. This seems a pretty obvious need.
Megan Arnold
Agreed! This platform doesn't really work for us without the protected view.
