CSV Importer - Ability to map all Custom Fields
planned
Joe Baye
Be able to map the existing custom fields right from the beginning rather than going through the whole import process and to map new custom import fields to existing ClickUp custom fields. It's an extra step

I definitely posted on the wrong threads.... 🤦♂️ Here is what I meant to post:

Hey everyone! We're going to get this done (finally, I know 😓)
Can I confirm these are the following custom fields you'd like to pull over?
- Location
- People
- Checkboxes
- File
- Relationship- Request to use task ID in a column to build a relationship custom field during CSV import
- Dropdown/label- saw this one mentioned, but I think we're good here?
Thank you!

Regarding submitted Click Up forms and CSV lists.
When a client submits a CU form with CSV list, we receive that task in our ‘Photo - Form Requests’ list. Once we download and import the CSV list, that imported information goes into our ‘Photo – Open Requests’ list, but none of the information that was submitted on the CU form is carried over. So we have to manually add all of that info; who submitted, the brand, the due date, etc. to the 'Open Requests'
Is there a way to carry over the information submitted on the Click Up form from the ‘Forms Request’ list to the ‘Open List’?

Add 'billable/non-billable' as part of CSV import. I know I can change the value in Timesheets but it would be great not to have to go through that extra step.

and another one which is so much important and shows me that clickup only works 50%. Thanks for nothing again. omg pleaaaase add this regular things, so the people who PAY and USE your software can use it in the right way.

CSV import should also support to import the custom fields of the subtasks (not only the tasks). Maybe by using ident in Excel to differentiate the task level vs subtask level vs level 3, etc...

The flatfile.com people have this nailed. Incorporating what they do with a little bit of ClickUp juice would be sweet.

Zach - ClickUp Three cheers for People fields, and I'm all in favour of the others as well.

Zach - ClickUp Basically any of my custom fields that I have already created, I want to be able to map to. Text fields included.
This is a spot where AI would be useful. Especially with dropdown or labels. If you are importing the same format of file each time, AI should be able to see the options and map them to the matching ones already in ClickUp. We should be able to modify from there, but this is so crucial when there are multiple different dropdown options and I have to waste time manually going in and mapping it all one by one.

Zach - ClickUp this is great. I'm gonna let my ClickUp account manager know. This might have just convinced my org to sign up for additional years! Please import ALL types of fields. They are all important to my organization. Text boxes are very useful for reference notes.

Zach - ClickUp As Stephanie has mentioned it would be great if the mapping would be less painful. If the name of the import field matches 100% the name of the ClickUp field, it should map it automatically. Also the values of the fields should be mapped automatically, if the name in the import field matches the value of the ClickUp field.
I recently imported several CSV files with a lot of fields and values. Each time I had to map everything manually. It took me several minutes for each file.

Relationship fields are an absolute must. IDK if tags are already mappable, but basically, if the field exists in clickup, it should be mappable. Location and address is huge too. We had to run a script that when we imported 1000s of addresses, we had to do it in text and then copy paste into an address field after import. was a PAIN.
Also, you guys have a bug with importing phone numbers. IDK if your team has confirmed the cause, but after a lot of testing, it occurs when importing numbers via csv and the numbers already have a +1, the import adds an extra +1 (even though it doesn't show in the gui, when you copy the number, it copies with an extra 1 country code. see CLK-467839.
Be awesome if you fixed that bug in this push as well :D

Zach - ClickUp location and relationship fields are essential for me. About to do an import of a few thousand records and manually connecting up relationships will be a headache! Hopefully this happens soon!

Zach - ClickUp was this completed? Or still int he works? from what I can see, still no way to import into People or drop down fields.
Cheers,

EDIT: WHOOPS wrong thread. I'll the comment up, but the main feature request you'll want to follow for this is here. Here's the original comment:

Zach - ClickUp This looks great, thank you!

Zach - ClickUp Yes I like this very much.
Rachel Sax
Zach - ClickUp I especially love the idea of having an import button on the list itself so you can import directly into the list.
Samson Oni
Zach - ClickUp Yes to your idea of being able to import directly from within the chosen list. Could this also include the option to 'add' or 'paste over' the current list? That would be great. I also support Darren Whitfield's comment below. It's a repetitive task for us so anything to increase efficiency by auto-applying the previous settings.
Tiffany Patton
Zach - ClickUpOMG, YES! Love the idea of doing it right from the list also.
Jalen Séguin
Zach - ClickUp Yes, this would be helpful... AND, when I see the words "ability to map to all custom fields," what got me really excited was the hope that all custom field types might be importable. Right now, I know that you can't import into People custom fields. It would be great if we could import into ALL custom field types.

I would also like the ability to save the mappings so I can import a new CSV with new data in quickly without having to gothrough and remap all the fields and custom fields. Or the automapping works if the headers match a field or custom field name. We export from another system daily and this would be such a time saver.
