Create Subtask Hover Dropdown Misleading
planned
Michael Rosenberg
The recently added “toggle” that appears on hover alongside a task that acts to create a Subtask is extremely misleading.
Our team has already commented that it makes them think there are subtasks that are not appearing. It doesn’t make sense that a dropdown toggle like this would be used as a UI element to CREATE a new Subtask instead of view existing subtasks.
The + already serves this purpose in a way that makes UX sense. The toggle simply adds confusion. It’d be helpful if ClickUp either changed the view toggle to a + instead of a rotating triangle (i.e. Make the “Create” button a “Create” button and NOT a VIEW toggle)and remove the other location, or remove this toggle entirely.

We'll be making updates to make this more clear soon.

1000% agreed. I almost left clickup for this confusing feature becuase I thought it had deleted a bunch of tasks in the upgrade. As for the planned changes, I hope they dont mean just making it available when hovering over the task - that does NOT lessen the confusion. Just remove it unless there are subtasks. We already have a + to add a subtask, there is no need to add another button to do the same thing on the same item.

So the list view got updated but the silly carrot is still there on hover even when there are no sub tasks! What?

I'd vote keep the plus where it is, and remove the carrot unless there are subtasks.

I see this arrow only for tasks with subtasks and for the ones that have none it shows only when I hover over it. I believe this has been like this since UI change.

Totally agree with this request. It’s confusing and you end up clicking just to discover there are no subtasks.
