Convert Google Calendar Events into Tasks

I'd like to be able to not only view the Google Calendar events in ClickUp, but convert it to a task in a specific list. Doing so will allow for less duplicates in Google Calendar/ClickUp.

This is such a simple feature, and they harp about "Calendar 3.0" but why has this not been done yet? I have meetings in my google calendar, I want a task to store information about the meeting (notes document or otherwise) and then sub-tasks for meeting action items. This should be basic functionality, but for some reason basically no task management tool has gotten this right. Everyone is still struggling with the same issues with calendars, notes, and action items across basically every platform.

+111111 I have tried to build a workaround and it is not easy! Not only would it be useful for managing my personal workload (I've even come up with a personal capacity dashboard that's ready to go once this happens) but it would also be helpful for merging my company's org-wide events and deadlines into ClickUp.

Yes! Even if they just allowed you to LINK tasks to calendar events it would be helpful. But it would be better if the task was turned into an actual event. Sometimes I will schedule a meeting but not be able to go, so the ability to CHECK OFF events as attended or not attended, would be very helpful. This would also be great to connect meeting minutes, business cards, social media posts, and pictures/videos to calendar events.

Turn Calendar Events into tasks

I am trying to start using My calendar view as my default calendar as I have it synched with my google calendar, but the thing is that this makes me create a specific task for calendar events that I can already see on my calendar. It would be nice to either have my google calendar events create an automatic task with the information from original google calendar event (Name, of the event, assignes, time and meeting link), or at least to have a shortcut to copy meeting into a task, so I dont have to create the task from scratch.

Make imported calendar events into tasks

I'd love to be able to make the events that are into my calendar into tasks as atm I'm having to manually create them in click up, and assign them to the right list in order to track the time. We're using 365 so either using the outlook plugin, or if I need to use the sync with Google Calendar we can. I am using calendar bridge to bring in my outlook calendar events into google calendar and then into CU. However they are just events, I can't change them into tasks.

I'd like to be able to turn Google Calendar events into tasks directly from the ClickUp Calendar. Even if I have to do it manually for each event - I want to be able to double click the event and turn it into a task.

The workaround I found for this was to make an automation via Make.
It took a bit of time to program it and isn't perfect but could maybe help?
Amy Sidorakis
Mara Would you mind sharing with me what you built in Make? I've tried to do the same thing with absolutely no luck!
Mara
Amy Sidorakis Sure ! I am not a pro in this but let me know if this help or tell me where you have a issue.
I made specific google calendars for my ClickUp on Google Calendar. In that way the automation is only trigger if it is created within this calendar and wouldn't create ClickUp tasks from my other personal calendar
I added a filter to avoid having an already-ClickUp-task that appears in my agenda through ClickUp Calendar sync turned into a new task. Condition : description does not contain https://app.clickup.com/
It need to trigger a ClickUp > Create a task.
I asked the task name to be "Summary" + "Description"
Its content to be "Description"
Its due date to be "End"
Its start date to be "Start"
I also added a special tag ("gcal") so I can found the task created by this automation.

I would also like to be able to do this with Outlook and Apple calendars

Most definitely needed!

Please prioritize this - I was under the impression clickup could already do this when I signed up.
