Please add an easy way to turn a comment into a task/subtask, ideally in two ways:
Manual option on any comment:
Add a menu option like “Convert to task” or “Convert to subtask” directly on a comment (anywhere comments exist: tasks, subtasks, meeting tasks).
Automation trigger:
Add an Automation trigger for “Comment assigned” (assigned comment created) so teams can use “assigning the final action comment” as the moment it becomes a task automatically.
Expected behavior
When converting:
The task name should default to the comment text (or first line)
The task description should include the original comment text and a link back to the original comment/thread for context
The new task should inherit the assignee (if the comment was assigned) and optionally inherit the due date if one is set/mentioned
Ideally offer choice of location: create as a subtask under the current task, or create as a task in a selected List
Why it matters
This would let teams discuss normally in Activity, then turn the final agreed action into a trackable task instantly, without manual duplication.
Problem
Teams use the Activity/Comments area inside tasks to chat and solve problems (this happens in meeting tasks, regular tasks, and subtasks). Often multiple team members contribute to the discussion. When the team reaches a solution, the final comment (the agreed action) should become a task, but today we must manually re-type or recreate the work as a new task/subtask.
This creates extra admin, duplicate writing, and increases the risk that action items are missed.

The "assigned comment becomes a task" flow is something I've seen requested from a bunch of different angles, and your writeup lays it out better than most. The missing pieces: a right-click "convert to task" on any comment, plus a trigger for "when comment is assigned." Worth mentioning: we're releasing the ability to toggle your automation comment trigger to include threads soon. Not the same as assigned comments, but it expands what the comment trigger can do. When we tackle comment-based workflows more broadly, this is exactly where it needs to go.

We use chat view as our company chat, and sometimes tasks appear from discussions. It would be efficient to be able to create a task from the discussion. Thanks!

Sometimes an assigned comment may require more thought and it would be beneficial to convert it into a task, it could then get added to a list, or moved to another list apart from the source task. Seems like it would be easy to convert via a similar "three dot" ellipses that is on the checklists currently.

Please allow us to convert a comment in the Conversation view to be a task. I think this would be similar to converting notes in the Note pad to a task.
