Collapsible Lists/Tasks
complete
Alessandro Smedile
I think the ability to open up the description box of a list by pressing the down arrow is a very unusual and almost useless action. A better-organized board would be a series of dropdown lists divided by a well-defined line or empty space.
In other words, I'd like to collapse lists: see the big picture if I want to, and expand a list when I need to. Now, lists, tasks and dividers are a little confusing to me.
The description can go elsewhere, maybe with a "+" icon at the end instead of a repetition of the down arrow.
Hope this app/site will improve fast, 'cause I really like it and is far more enjoyable than alternatives such as Monday, Trello or Asana.
Bye!!

We've solved this with our recent releases 🙂

Waleed Elaghil: Thanks Waleed, but I still can't expand/collapse a task's subtasks. That's the biggest need for us. The description for this request is "Collapsible Lists/Tasks", I assumed you'd make Tasks collapsible too
Waleed Elaghil
Hey Serge! You can actually do this by clicking on the subtasks icons next to each task (here's a GIF) 🙂
Let me know if this solves your use-case!

Waleed Elaghil: Ok thanks! I see that it works if I select " Subtasks>>Hide" at the top. It should really work even if I have "Subtasks>>Expand All" selected.
Waleed Elaghil
Serge: Yes, that also works and would keep them expanded at all time!

+1 for this - collapsible lists would be amazing.

Please include individual Collapsible Tasks/Subtasks! -- Instead of having to go up to the top to Hide/Expand Subtasks, which expands or collapses them all, a simple +/- symbol (or up/down arrows) on the single task itself. It's basically the same way you are able to collapse and expand individual folders, showing and hiding the lists within them, on the left side navigation.

When is list collapsing coming? Not being able to collapse lists makes the list view very annoying

Any update on this?
Harald Vogl
Great, if this is coming soon. Although I should know better, I was catching myself often, clicking the arrow, assuming it would collapse the tasks of the list, instead of opening the list informations.
That's why I removed this arrow and improved some other elements to get a better connection between the list and it's tasks. Not a problem, in Chrome, with the stylebot extension, what is able to keep this UI adjustments. See example screenshot ...
Ehud Rosenberg
Harald Vogl: That's great - is it available to download somewhere?
Harald Vogl
Ehud Rosenberg: Just try this for the extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stylebot/oiaejidbmkiecgbjeifoejpgmdaleoha

I’m very much with Allesandro on this. Surprised this hasn’t got more likes as it’s the tasks interface that I find the least appealing about ClickUp. Go into a task with subtasks on IOS and 60% of the screen is all main task details.

Glad to hear this is planned!

Great to hear, Zeb. Can you offer any indication as to how this might end up? One thing we really struggle with is the lack of depth in the expanded List details area, and think being able to optionally open a List detail in a popup like a task would help solve this. Would add this as a feature suggestion but not sure what route you and the team are taking. Worth adding?
Zeb
Gary Garside: I think our new solution will solve your use cases. I'll update here within the next couple of weeks a prototype for our new solution and see what you guys think!

Zeb: Sounds promising. Look forwards to seeing what you guys have been working on!

Zeb: Any news?
Zeb
Denis: This is coming with ClickUp 2.0 early next year.
Zeb
Hey Alessandro! I agree with you. We're completing redesigning the List details area, and I think it will solve your problem :)
Denis
Zeb: It looks like you read my mind.
