It would be awesome if we could click and drag to create a new task in time view with start and due dates (as you can in Google Calendar). See video: https://www.useloom.com/share/929e050446304764b92baa673228e0d5

This can be done with ClickUp 2.0 🙂
Rufus Manji
Waleed Elaghil: Fantastic. Is it possible to click-&-drag in 15-minute increments (rather than 30-minute increments)?

Waleed Elaghil: Wow, now clickup is almost perfect for me)))

Hey Rufus Manji! This only works if you change the task's duration (as in pic) but not for click-and-drag.
I've created a new feature request for this and added you as a voter to stay updated here 🙂

We're glad to hear that, DianaN! 😍

This would be nice and save a few clicks everytime you set a timeline.

our team and clients need start date sync to recurring task it is crucial feature as on google calendar or on ical with recurring task due time becomes start time and it creates a lot of confusion we highly request you to clear this issue.
Also while syncin

It is also essential for the start & end due dates to map to the duration.
So, on creation of the task by click and drag, duration should map accordingly.
Likewise, if you edit the task on Time View after creation by clicking and dragging the start and end due dates (or more granular at the day, so hour/minute level) the duration should reflect that.
This duration mapping is essential when adding tasks to the Time View in attempt to map out your day.
Currently, if you put a task on the Time View, you can have a task with a start time of say, 6pm an end time of 6:30pm and a duration of 4hrs. This makes it frustrating to try to plan out my calendar/tasks. I have to manually adjust start, end and duration so they all lineup properly.
A "smarter" duration based on Start and End dates/time would be extremely valuable.

Behavior change:
Ctrl/cmd/shift + clicking and dragging will select multiple events.
Just clicking and dragging will allow you to create an event with the start/due time based on where you drag.

Hey everyone! If we implemented this, then you wouldn't be able to click and drag to select multiple events, like you can currently. Does anyone have any solutions around this?

Zeb: If that's the case then my vote is no.

Zeb: can you drag to select anywhere else in clickup? Both list view and board view use selection-check-boxes/circles.
Maybe this would be a feature for timelines, not for calendar..?
Zeb
Martin "Max" Becker: We felt like it makes the most sense for scheduling, it was something I missed in Google Calendar.

Zeb: What about holding control/cmd/shift/etc before clicking to select multiple events? Many photo/video/etc editing apps have similar functionality for selecting multiple media clips.
Zeb
Tyler Doshier: That's it! Great idea Tyler, we'll get it done.

Zeb: Awesome, glad that suggestion helped. To clarify-- usually you hold one of those keys + click, not all 3. :p
Zeb
Tyler Doshier: Yep, either one of them will work!
