Check if Custom Field is filled/blank in Formulas
Jordan Chung
The ability to check if a Custom Field has a value filled in would be super helpful for a lot of conditional date calculations, among other things. Whether that be a proper null operator or an ISBLANK() formula, I would love to see this functionality opened up!

I have so many duration fields I need to create and need this feature! Any ETA on its availability?

This so essential. So many use cases. Can't imagine why this isn't support yet.

Sad to see this request was opened more than 2 years ago. Please Please Please add this feature!

This is paramount, missing ISBLANK() check prevents so many IF statements to be done. Pease!

Definitely a must-have and easy to implement

I need to use the conditional formula with a data field as a reference, but when the field has not been defined as data it is undefined, I need it to be null or empty, to use in the “IF” formula.
It must be defined in the database “not null = false”.

Please add this, this is absolutely critical. Otherwise means using other apps

A workaround in case you are looking at date fields.
- I have 2 date fields: date of first outreach (always populated) and date of sale (not always populated)
- If date of sale is populated, I want months between date of outreach and date of sales. Otherwise, I want the difference between today and date of outreach
- I first tried to write a IF function with ISBLANK or cell="" which clearly did not work.
- However, I could workaround the ISBLANK issue by building the IF argument as: IF(DAYS(date of sale, date of first outreach)>1,...)

If anyone figures out a workaround for this, that would be amazing...

Andy Cabasso: Hi guys,
The way I solved it was by setting the date field you want to measure from NULL to value, way in the future, like 2100-01-01
That way I get a running value on number of days and a final count on number of days when the field is changed to the actual date.
IF(field("Confirmation received")>TODAY(),NETWORKDAYS(field("Request Sent"),TODAY()),NETWORKDAYS(field("Request Sent"),field("Confirmation Received")))&" working days"
In addition I've made a small dashboard to have an overview of the days and status for the tasks, using a tag to pick them out. So when PO Sent changes Status and Tag is changed.
Still - why not let us use NULL as a state for a custom field in a formula - very useful and really easy guys :-)
