Budgeting & Forecasting

ClickUp has tremendous potential to displace not only other project management software, but business management & ERP more broadly. Currently, we use Bonsai and PandaDoc, but the lack of a visual forecasting system in PandaDoc has made the transition a bit more painful.
That got me thinking that the implementation of something like Bonsai's "Income & Expenses" system, but for calculating hours worked within ClickUp, would be an awesome thing to combine in the dashboard with broader workloads.
If you could see the amount of time worked vs. the amount billed, and see such in a global dashboard with your project tasks, it would help improve profitability while also boosting efficiency in task allocation & project management.
Would love to see a more "global" approach to the business implemented to synergize project management with broader operational matters.

How can ClickUp be a project management tool and not address project profitability? You have time tracking but what good is that without also allowing users to see profitability. That is a major frustration for us. We do not need invoicing (we use QBO) but employees aren't tracking time in QBO so we don't have insight with either platform. The natural platform for this, is the project management tool - ClickUp.

I found something.
The formula using custom fields while. We can't use formula fields in formula fields.
CONCATENATE('%',TRUNC((field("Estimate Amount")-field("Cost")-field("overhead"))/field("Estimate Amount")*100))

I'm looking for something like in ClickUp where I have a set project hourly rate vs team members rate.
I couldn't use the formula column to call formula in the advanced editor.
I'm trying to see forecast and what was actually billed to determine profit. I'm trying to move away from Clockify.me
Here's a video they have

I was able to produce this projected expense report using excel. See screen shots which show the formulas used to produce it. Would it be possible to copy these formulas?

Morgan said it well. If you could see the amount of time worked vs. the amount billed, and see such in a global dashboard with your project tasks, it would help improve profitability while also boosting efficiency in task allocation & project management. We currently have to seek external integrations to get any insight into true profitability and see areas that are billable vs not. THis is highly needed to make CU useful in Project Mgt.

An absolute must for a comprehensive PM tool - reliance on a third-party for something so simple seems like overkill, and a major feature that is involved in truly tracking projects and progress

We also really want this in ClickUp. For a small studio, we don't have the luxory of having multiple SaaS products managed by multiple departments to get the visiblity we need. It's maddening, really. ClickUp is SO, SO close to being a comprehensive tool for a creative stuido. Unfortunately, budgeting and time tracking (critical to our business) is sorely lacking in ClickUp. Let alone forecasting. We can't use ClickUp time tracking because there is no support for setting recurring client budgets for retainer work. So we have to use Everhour, which is fine, but adds significant operating cost for such a simple function. It would not be an overstatement to say this would be a game changer for us.

Great idea. We use QBO for this now and it’s a mess. Would love having budget tracking in ClickUp!

This would be an amazing thing to have. Clickup should be a tool for any business to carryout everything in all the departments. It shouldnt be just a tool to track.
