With the Chat update, we have lost the old Modal (Default) view. This was a good third view alongside the important Full-Screen Task view, and the useful Sidebar Task view.

The benefit of the default "Modal" view was that you could still see the List below it, quickly click out, then click another task, whilst still retaining some focus that you lose with sidebar mode. So it was quite fast to use (same as sidebar, but with more information on the screen at once), it gave you a bit more task focus than the sidebar mode, and you could see the context that the Task was in (which can be useful mentally).

The benefit of fullscreen mode is clearly focus and information - there are no other distractions, and you get more info on the screen at once. So that is definitely a keeper as it is.

The benefit of the sidebar mode is it is quick to use. So that is a keeper as well.

But the new "default" version doesn't really seem to add any huge benefit. - It is practically not any different to full-screen mode - it just adds the navigation sidebar, which arguably is confusing and distracting when you are looking at a somewhat full-screen task view, compared to true Full-Screen mode. The true Full-Screen mode is better in that regard, as it is more focused and has less distractions.

(Although, I can see why some would like to see the navigation sidebar there.)

It also doesn't keep the benefits of the old Modal version (of being able to quickly get back to the List below, or see the list below, which mentally keeps you in the List as well as the Task itself).

Basically, the new default does not seem to add a huge amount of benefit, at the loss of a useful view option.

The three options you had before all were really good and useful in their own way.

I say this as someone who barely used the default "Modal" view, as well. I think it had some really good benefits to it that have been lost.
