Automations | When something happens on a subtask (i.e. status closed), then do something on the parent task

We would like to have the ability to update parent task status, once every sub-task reaches certain status

I would like to have the subtasks start and due dates feed back to the parent task start and due date. If I change any subtask status it should feed back up to the parent task overall status. For instance in Microsoft Projects the subtasks determine the parent task status and overall task start and due dates.

The 'progress (auto)' field on the parent task shows the change in percentage when a subtask is marked 'done' so it seems like the parent status field should also be updated. I set up an automation that will change the subtask/task when all checklist items are resolved but I just learned there is no way (currently) for the subtask status to affect the parent task, even with an automation. Please implement this soon! It would make a huge difference in our training and workflow time.

It will be helpful to add a list of automations. The current list is a bit restricting. Specifically, we have been wanting to create an automation where we can mirror the custom fields and statuses of the subtasks as that of its parent. This will be extremely helpful if we ddon'tont have to manually update the statuses and custom field for subtasks.

We need to have the capability to automatically change a subtask's status when the parent status changes to a specific status. It would create a lot more opportunities to scale project management in the tool.

Faustina Llerena I am looking for this functionality, too! Hopefully ClickUp rolls it out soon!

We need the creation & completion of subtasks to trigger the parent task to change statuses.
For example, we have a list for managing our documents (as tasks) & updates for each of them as they arise (as subtasks). Most of the document tasks sit dormant in Done statuses (without any subtasks) until we identify updates that needs to be made to those documents, at which point we create a subtask detailing those required updates & the document task moves into an Active status until the update has been implemented. It would be nice if those parent/document tasks moved according to those specific subtask triggers.

This functionality would be essential for effective project management and automation.

Hi, when the subtask status changes, I want the status of the task to change. In multiple subtasks, I want the most recent status to be assigned to the task.

This automation is needed to make the work efficient - if a task has multiple sub-tasks then completing all the subtasks obviously means the task is completed and having to manually mark completed a second time after completion of last subtask is redundant.
