Automatic progress from related tasks
Jose Luis Parra
Hi, I designed my Epic concept, (it could to be used by collections, themes, objectives...)
Firstly, I create a task, and set a custom field as type "Epic", to be classified. Then, every task that is necessary to achieve this epic, is added as an checklist element. I call them "children", and the Epic task, is "Parent". The children tasks use a custom field of Task Type to link to the parent task (Epic), so, when a task is done, I go to the parent task using this custom field "parent", and mark the element in the Parent's checklist. So I can see the progress of the epic.
This solution, could to be nested and to have several levels of parents. For example:
1.- I create a task as an general objective. This objective has some Epics tasks, and each Epic task will use the "parent" field to link to the Objective task.
2.- A children task of an Epic could to be a group of tasks...
The problem, is that we need a lot of work to maintenance the tasks.
It would be so useful if ClickUp add a new type of task list (subtasks, checklists and the new "children" for example, or a similar solution), so the progress is managed automatically, and it would be easier to manage the children tasks.
Finally, in my Goal, I include Epics or Tasks to achieve it, but I have a List View only of Epics to monitoring the complete progress of all our epics.
Note that I read all proposal and solutions in tutorial, suggestions... but nothing was really useful; so it is the best solution for me.
I attached images about my proposal that I use and it works for my team:

Linked Tasks can be set as auto progress
Mark Verschuuren
You can Link Tasks to a "master case" . This can be done by ## or by the custom field "Tasks" .
i would like to be able to add those tasks in the checklist. Or on any other way to track the Master Case progress.
by completing the linked tasks, the auto progress progresses.

Please this ... linking Stuff, using "epics" is otherwise non-value overhead :(
I currently just slam a themed tag at everything to have an easy quick win ... while ignoring epics at all ...

Usefull. The milestones hasnt the ability to track completion

It's been 2 years since this requested. I think this is a key feature of a relationship for Epic list users. I want to be able to track the progress of my Epics without doing double work or creating sub tasks.

This is what I am implying. With relationships, I can link tasks in a list with a task. I want to display the % progress of that task (really the subtasks below it). Currently I can display the name of the related task but the %Progress has to be buried in a rollup.
%Progress is also only available for relationship of a tasks in a list. and only for related tasks in a list. I think there needs to be the option to display any of the fields (e.g. %Progress) from a task in the whole space in related field/column of another task.
Then I can produce this, where each milestone is specific task in a list or even a list itself.

Yes, great suggestion I think this is implying that related tasks would affect the "progress rollup" of a task. Right now just Subtasks can do that.
I'd love to see all type of summary of related tasks in the Parent task, such as total time estimated from related tasks, etc. Goals can somewhat do this now as you can see the progress of tasks from various lists in a Goal's progress.

John Jones: Not quite what I am suggesting but like it nonetheless

Yes but please add a "track completion of" checkbox for each link type (dependencies, linked tasks) instead of one checkbox for all
