Apply sorting to subtasks when viewed under parent task
Brandon Brown
[FROM SUPPORT]: Sorting does not currently get applied to subtasks when they are displayed underneath their parent task in list view. I would like to apply sorting to them without needing to view them as standalone items

5 years later (wow) and I'm really waiting for this to be fixed, it's very frustrating not to be able to view subtasks sorted the same way as the parent tasks in the list !

Extremely frustrating to not be able to sort sub tasks under tasks as we manage our to dos and deliverables.

While I am a seasoned user of ClickUp, I am now using it in a different way in my consulting business than I did as a corporate employee. The inability to sort subtasks under the parent in List view is frustrating. The need to visibility see what's coming down the pike is imperative. But to manually move or transition subtasks to standalone tasks defeats the purpose of the organization and function process.

Can we please get this looked at? It really holds back List view.
It would work best if it were an option for each level of sorting - so you could click sorting option 1 and choose whether it affects subtasks or not, then sorting option 2 and choose if that affects subtasks or not, and so on.
Or, if that's not possible, then just a setting in each List view's settings area.-So you can choose whether subtasks and nested subtasks follow the main sorting, are sorted separately, or are manually sorted. Even a toggle on/off option would help.
It's not helpful to have to display subtasks separately from their parent task, as that breaks your organisation and is overwhelming to look at. We really just need sorting for subtasks/nested subtasks too.

Sorting subtasks alongside parent tasks in the main view is a fundamental and basic feature that's long overdue. Could you please confirm how many votes are needed for this feature to be implemented?

This would be very helpful for us. Especially, if you could sort based on different sort order from the parent.
Guy Mannerings
Jeff MacNeill Yes, this option would be good.

How is this not done yet? This is table stakes for software that organises tasks. Please fix this Clickup, it's embarrassing this has been going on since 2019!!

We use subtasks pretty extensively as well and when we use automations to apply/stack multiple templates and need those to get sorted correctly, it is a big problem. I even went as far as to create a custom "sort order" column that is numeric. Still nothing. This is a big feature request for sure.

We use subtasks extensively and it would be extremely helpful to be able to sort them. Even when viewing them as a standalone group, they do not sort correctly.

Little shocking this isn’t a feature yet when it was mentioned almost 5 years ago. Seems like a no brainier, doesn’t make sense that sorting doesn’t apply to sub tasks.
