Advanced Dependency Options
planned
Jeremy Benson
Many times when scheduling I need two tasks to finish at the same time and want to know the required start dates. I would suggest that additional dependency options other than "blocks" or "is blocking" like Start/Start Start/Finish Finish/Finish and +/- days modifiers are needed.

👋 Hello everyone
We are currently building these advanced dependency options and we'd like to get your take on how these should be represented in our UI.
Please provide your thoughts using this survey.
As always, your input will shape this feature.
Thanks you!

This update would be of a great help, hopefully we will be able to see it applicable soon.

Hi Bugra Oktay, how can I enroll as a beta user for this feature?

Advanced Dependencies

Our team would benefit from more advanced dependencies such as:
Start-to-Start (Start to Start)
Finish-to-Finish (End to End)
Start-to-finish (Start to Finish)
Lag times are also essential, as we are a construction company and like to use later end dates to track milestones throughout the project. We need the ability to schedule tasks relative to those milestones—for example, setting Task 1 to start 30 days before Task 2 begins, with Task 2 having the fixed start date (i.e., Task 2 start date − 30 days = Task 1 end date). This allows us to anchor the schedule to major milestones while automatically calculating the timing of the preceding tasks.

Is there a timeline for when this will be worked on?

Hello,
We are working on a Workspace with a Business Plus plan and in the Gantt view dependencies are being created only as Finish-to-Start.
We don't have the option to create or edit other types of dependencies such as:
Start-to-Start (Start to Start)
Finish-to-Finish (End to End)
Start-to-finish (Start to Finish)
Even if we drag from different points on the bar, the system automatically forces Finish-to-Start and no selector appears to change the type of relationship.
We need to enable advanced dependencies in Gantt, since they are essential for our planning and for the professional presentation of the schedule to the client.

Can someone share a link to a webinar or given a general update to the possible gantt start start finish finish or available float/slack actions in gantt charts?

When Gantt view is sorted by start date (which is 90% of my Gantt views) and a task with dependencies is moved earlier or later in the timeline, it bumps the related tasks out of view and requires a manual refresh to place them back in the timeline. This wastes a lot of time refreshing every time a task is moved in a timeline. Apparently this is a known limitation. Automatic repositioning of the related tasks into the timeline as sorted without refreshing is needed.
