Add layover / goal / target lines to bar charts and line charts

Is it possible to add a line on the bar chart? I have a daily max amount of blocks I can do, and would be great to be able to show this visually as well.

Yes, many chart tools allow adding a reference or target line to a bar chart to show limits like your daily max blocks. If your setup supports extensions or integrations, something like LemSubs https://lemsubs.com/ could also help manage or visualize such limits more efficiently.

We would like to request the ability to add a “Goal Line” (similar to a baseline) to bar graphs in ClickUp Dashboards. This feature would allow users to visually set and display a target value—such as a revenue goal—across the graph for easy comparison with actual results.
Use Case Example:
Y-axis: Money (e.g., revenue)
X-axis: Quarter (Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4)
Goal: Set a horizontal line at 20 million per quarter, so each bar (actual value per quarter) can be visually compared against this target.
Benefits:
Instantly see which quarters meet or fall short of the goal.
Makes it easier to communicate targets and performance to stakeholders.
Supports better data-driven decision-making and progress tracking.
Desired Functionality:
Allow users to set a custom goal value for the Y-axis.
Display a horizontal line across the graph at the specified value.
Optionally, allow different goal values for each period (e.g., different goals per quarter).
The goal line should be visually distinct (e.g., color, style) from the data bars.

It'd be great if we could add a goal for each month and have that as a red dashed line over our bar graphs. So far, the closest I can get is to use a line graph and reference a separate list with monthly targets (which isn't an issue, but it doesn't give us a clear reflection on potential income vs target...nor $ figures plotted on).

We need to see how far from targets we are. Being able to set a bar or target value (in the same way CU shows average) would help.

It would be good to be able to manually add a target line across a line chart

I vote for this request - adding the goal/target line to the bar chart, but I would like to request also adding the option to view the results in the bar chart also as Percentage, it is a very basic request from graphs. and to request to be able to edit the colors of the legend, for example the Clickup choose the color light red for NA and I want to change it to Gray.

I loved Momentum Dash for its visual components and the possibility to display important goals and numbers...

We use the dashboards heavily to monitor business progress on finance and metrics. Would love the ability to have a function to set targets to track progress visually

Christian Herrera Can you please provide more details on what the targets would look like? Are you referring to a target line on existing charts, like described in this request? https://clickup.canny.io/feature-requests/p/add-layover-goal-target-lines-to-bar-charts-and-line-charts

Lily Chan Hi Lily, sure thing! Its similar. For our use case in our business, we establish targets for revenue metrics ($ custom field) and other metrics as measured by count or sum of Custom fields), trip targets (count of tasks). Would love the ability to visually see targets on a bar or line chart that can show the delta for missing or exceeding a target. We set targets on a monthly basis for custom fields, task counts.

The ability to add a goal or target line to line charts would enable you to visually compare current performance against set goals directly within the dashboard for anything you're working on that's performance dependent.
Possible usage: Tags, Tasks, Custom Fields correlated to real activity and completion of the activity
This line would serve as a reference point that clearly shows how close the actual data (activity of your specific task/work/effort) is to reaching these goals over time.
(example attached to this post: see horizontal grey dashed line)
Note for ClickUp devs: this could start as a simple target line where the target is entered manually for each chart and depending on usage and demand, could expand to incorporate existing Goals from ClickUp.
