Currently, time entries in ClickUp don’t allow inclusion of workspace-level custom fields. This limits our ability to categorize and report on time data beyond task associations.
Our specific use case is tracking time against clients. We have a custom dropdown field for “Client” at the workspace level and would like that field (and potentially others) to be available when creating or editing a time entry, even when the entry isn’t tied to a task.
This would enable reporting on metrics like client profitability and time allocation by client—especially for general or non-task-based time entries (e.g., support calls, administrative work, or travel).
Impact:
This enhancement would allow teams to leverage ClickUp’s time tracking more effectively for client-based billing and profitability reporting, while maintaining flexibility for unlinked time entries.
