Add Ability to Run Automations When a Clip Recording is Completed
maru
I recently moved my meetings from Zoom to ClickUp's SyncUp feature. I would love to have the ability to run Automations when a recorded Clip is completed.
Specifically, I would like the following actions to happen automatically once the recording finishes:
- Create a new task in a designated List
- Post the Clip URL to the activity section of that task
- Post the task link and the Clip URL to a specific Chat
This workflow would make it much easier to organize and manage meetings that cover multiple topics. In the future, I would also like to integrate Notetaker so that its notes are automatically posted to the task activity, further improving meeting follow-up efficiency.
ClickUp has already become an indispensable part of my productivity, and I am continually impressed by its versatility and powerful features. I sincerely appreciate the hard work and passion of the development team.

Hey! We had a PoC that could create tasks from notes and put them to the personal list, so that automations could be triggered. Will that solve your use case to some degree?

Thank you for your response!
Automation via the notetaker is certainly one of the most attractive features, but in that case, it would require a separate notetaker subscription, correct? By way of background, I use ClickUp across multiple organizations and projects, with various patterns such as free plans, paid plans, and those with notetaker enabled.
In my view, it would be ideal if Automate could be configured for each function individually—in other words, if Automate could be set for the clips feature (or syncup). The reason is that if automation depends on the notetaker, and meeting video placement automation cannot be done without subscribing to it, that alone may not justify subscribing to notetaker—in fact, it could even motivate users to switch to other meeting apps.
This might be preaching to the choir, but I believe that the “cause-and-effect relationship between demand and supply” and the “consensus building through the accumulation of established facts” are critical perspectives when introducing additional features. The ideal progression would be: meetings can be recorded > those recordings are automatically placed > having them placed makes users want meeting minutes > users decide to subscribe to the notetaker. On the other hand, the reasoning of “subscribe to notetaker just to enable automatic placement” skips the necessary accumulation of rationale and the maturation stage of motivation to need that function, which may slow down the growth of ClickUp fans within the organization or project.
Thank you, as always, for listening to the wide variety of feedback from us users. I hope my input can serve as a reference for further improving ClickUp’s features and user experience.

maru yeah I understand where you are coming from. Valid points, just need to balance that with the current set up to keep things not overly complex from how we bundle and bill features - so, to be transparent, cannot promise any changes with specific deadlines right now. But I will definitely give it all a thought and let's see what we can do here!
Thanks for the super detailed feedback, that is really helpful!
