Add a new field "Vote" and set voting weight to each user
complete
William Wong
WHY:
With any project management, and working in a team environment, there are a ton of competing ideas, tasks and issues to deal with. Given the limited resources, we need a way to crowdsource internal votes to guide us which tasks should be worked on first.
HOW:
Similar to the rating custom field, we should have a vote field (perhaps a built in field rather than a custom field.
Also, the vote should take into account # of votes any user is assigned to. For instance, when evaluating tasks/ideas in the Engineering Space, senior engineers should have more voting power than say a junior/intern engineers.
Likewise, in other spaces, people with the highest domain expertise will be afforded a higher voting power.
Trello has this feature which is super helpful in ranking ideas/features

Hi everyone! Excited to share that the Voting field is now live for all Workspaces. Please give it a refresh if you don't see it, and feel free to create new Canny requests for functionality you'd like to see added to this new field type! Help Center documentation can be found here: https://help.clickup.com/hc/en-us/articles/24266511749527-Use-Voting-Custom-Fields

Caroline Ginty thank you!! This is great news! :)
Very much looking forward to a "Poll" functionality now for the WYSIWYG in comments, tasks, docs etc.! That will be great to replace other tools like Doodle :)
Hope it can be built on top of this now!

Caroline Ginty Thank you. this is a great, step. Quick question why are these smaller updates not communicated on the release notes?
I am not saying it needs it's on segment in the video but just a listed that it is a new release
Caroline Ginty
Ryan MacAlmon It will be in the release notes :) Release notes are usually published a week trailing our release (which is typically on Wednesdays), so look out for it in next week's notes!

Caroline Ginty This is awesome.

Caroline Ginty this is great news! Does this mean that ClickUp will be able to replace the usage of Canny to gather feedback with ClickUp? :)
Caroline Ginty
Robin Dindayal We hope eventually yes! Currently, one limitation is that public views are read-only, and we don't support users who aren't logged in to the Workspace to interact with Custom Fields, which includes Voting fields. That would be a different FR to support some sort of public view that would allow folks to interact without being part of the Workspace. Appreciate this feedback!
Robin Dindayal
Caroline Ginty isn't that how Canny works? I can only upvote (i.e. interact) in Canny if I'm logged in.
Let me know if I'm misunderstanding...I'm curious because I want to build an idea portal (similar to this Feedback section in Canny) within ClickUp. We currently use the Ideas portal in Aha (i.e. https://www.aha.io/ideas/overview) and would love to replace it with ClickUp. Thanks and let me know...
Caroline Ginty
Robin Dindayal Sorry I wasn't clear! Even when logged in, when interacting with a public view in ClickUp, it is read-only so there's no way to update a Custom Field (including voting).
Robin Dindayal
Caroline Ginty got it...I understand! I will submit a request for that...

Caroline Ginty this merely has the option to upvote not downvote. I also miss the option for weight to each user.

Amazing! We specialise in ClickUp onboarding, workspace optimization and workflow automation - and our clients are going to love this!

Will we be able to allow public voting?
This is a primary reason we want that. Allow voting for voters that are not users. For example, have clients add items that are challenges in their workflow and than have the team vote on the ones they agree with.
This allows use to understand the top challenges with the widest reach about opportunity for impactful improvement.

Hi everyone! We are getting close to releasing the first version of the Voting Custom Field! The initial release will include support for users to vote up to once per task, and we'll be exploring future enhancements to allow for different weights per user, voting multiple times on a given task, etc.

Caroline Ginty - great! Unfortunately the form doesn't work :P

Peter Atkinson: It's working on my end, and I'm receiving submissions...maybe try clearing cache or cookies? Thanks!
Niklas Bakenhus
Caroline Ginty Hi! Unfortunately also not working for me at the moment. Clearing cache and cookies did not help.

Caroline Ginty Side note: Would be nice if the Workspace ID was something found within settings. I mainly use the desktop app. Unless I'm missing it somewhere?

Caroline Ginty I get a blank page for the Dev page and the updates page.

Please email me and I am happy to provide our Workspace ID

Here is my feedback for others to see as well.
1- when I try to select the emoji it does not commit in the type box
2- it would be better to you marry the existing Rating column and voting column. If the column creator only wants the user to vote once, adjust the rating to 1, but if they want the user to rate the items 2 to 5. This would work great for agile planning poker teams
2.5 - Please allow the rating fields to be plotted on an Eisenhower Matrix

This would be amazing
