Ability to re-use Formula Custom Fields from the Custom Field Library

(User requested)
Formula Custom Fields don’t appear in the "Use field from library" feature where you can re-use existing Custom Fields in another Space/Folder/List.

Upvote! I use a custom formula to calculate an earnings column (hours tracked x. hourly rate), which I pull into a dashboard so I can easily view running totals for the project. My idea was to have a high-level client dashboard to pull in all project totals, but now that I've configured each list and tested it, even though each list is checked in the data column, the calculations don't happen. The problem is that, because the custom formula is newly created for each list, the drop-down for the "measure" field shows each of these instances, and you can only select one. Too bad, this was an exciting possibility!

We need to use formulas with custom fields in two different lists.

Add formula across several lists (like any custom field)

Why isn't it possible to have a formula across several fields?
it can't be duplicated or add to another list. Even a duplicated list doesn't keep it...
It has to be done manually everytime... So tedious !

using the same formula field located in multiple lists

Apologies if this is repeated. I looked and I see similar posts but, but I specifically just want to solve the problem from my screenshot attached. If I could just use the same formula field across multiple lists, I could then roll them up in a report. All I'm trying to do is calculate the hours remaining for a scope across 2 lists which represent projects within that scope and then add them together in a dashboard so I can see total remaining hours easily. The fact that I can't is bonkers.

Formula custom field in multiple lists

I'd like to be able to have the formulas I've created in the custom field manager and to be able to add the same formula in different lists. This was a feature available in the past, but it is no longer available. I find myself copying the same formula in 10 different lists and spaces, it is insane. I don't understand why they removed this feature.

I have the same problem. I have a formula on 14 folders, but i cannot add it to new ones. This is what I got from support, they make it seem like it's a "feature":
When creating a Formula Custom Field in ClickUp, you can only assign it to a single location (such as a specific list, folder, or space). If you want to use the same formula in other folders, you’ll need to manually recreate it in each location. This restriction does not apply to other custom field types like text, number, or dropdown fields, which can be reused across multiple locations.
Why This Limitation Exists:
• Field Dependencies: Formula fields often reference other custom fields that may not exist or may differ in other folders or lists. Limiting formulas to one location ensures all referenced fields are present and consistent.
• Data Integrity: Restricting formulas to a single location helps maintain accurate and reliable calculations.
• Performance: Allowing formulas across multiple locations would require additional validation and could impact performance.
• Customization: Each folder or list may have unique data structures, so formulas are kept local to ensure they work as intended.

What I think: this feature was a little bit buggy, somebody found it, checked that it's difficult to fix, noticed the majority of the users don't use it -> remove it to prevent disasters. That's very logical do, but keep in mind that whoever was using this feature is a power user. Give us that feature back 🙏

Why would clickup remove this feature? I find myself re-writing the same formula more than 5 times in different lists/spaces.

This was possible in the past, now it is no longer possible.
Please let me add the same formula custom field to multiple locations.
We calculate RICE Score via a custom formula field in multiple list and the formula is always the same, with the same name and should then be grouped in an aggregating list under the same field. This is only possible when using the exact same Field. Super annoying.

I was just looking for this topic while setting up a new folder and having to put the same formulas in for 15 lists individually is such a nuisance. I can see formula fields that reference data not added to lists not working, but you should be able to add it and any other necessary fields. The use case that had me hunting for threads tonight is where the exact same formula referencing TODAY and ONE date custom field is used in 15 of 18 lists in a folder. The weird thing is that I have one of the fields showing as being located in two places, so the ability already exists. Why it's not allowed makes no sense.
