New Chrome Extension
building now
Alex Lashkov
Good news! We're rebuilding the ClickUp Chrome Extension from the ground up -- AI-first, faster, and free from the reliability issues of the past.
To make sure it fits seamlessly into your daily workflows, we'd love to know:
👉 What other Chrome extensions do you use regularly?
(e.g. writing assistants, screenshot tools, video clip recorders, AI copilots - anything!)
This info will fuel our roadmap + ensure compatibility with tools you already use!

will this extension be a combination of the existing browser extension AND the mail plugins? Alex Lashkov
Alex Lashkov
Lukas Moser: it will be a completely new extension, with separate Chrome Store listing, etc. What mail plugins do you mean here? Not sure I understand..
Lukas Moser
Alex Lashkov Thanks for your answer. I mean if this plugin will also get an update or be part of the new extension: https://appsource.microsoft.com/en-ie/product/office/WA104382026?tab=Overview
Alex Lashkov
Lukas Moser: nope, ClickUp for Outlook is a different app, here we are talking about Chrome Extension

Vincent D'Amico
Alex Lashkov Thanks, but once you have the components created and built. Will you consider re using these libraries with the other apps across the Clickup family of apps? Like Outlook etc? Is that still under consideration.
I know previously alot of these systems were reused throughout other apps of clickup. When I ever I had wanted a clickup enhancement to something else it was always tied to a limitation of the original chrome extension / library. So, can't wait to see what you come up with. Such exciting times with everything.
Alex Lashkov
Vincent D'Amico yeah sure that is a goal, however, the extension is built off of Brain MAX - and it has a bit different tech stack compared to ClickUp web, so for now we will be re-using components across extension/Brain MAX desktop/Brain Max mobile and go from there and expand the reach.
V
Vincent D'Amico
Alex Lashkov thanks for the transparency and context. I do agree and hope to be able to use Max Brain more once i get my hands on this extension hoping it solves for alot of what i struggle with inside of the browser in between my emails etc.
I do think its going to take me to a whole new level.

Krzysztof Zmorzyński
Hi,
for me, I just need super simple but also super performant extension that just does basic jobs in gmail:
- attach email to existing tasks
- display tasks ids in mails list and title of the tasks when viewing particular email (plus maybe add a small "+" next to task title so it could be instantly added to this task)
Right now (as others also commented) it does not always work and we need to reinstall extension.
But the biggest problem is that current extension slows gmail and a whole PC A LOT.
I mean, it could take a couple of seconds after clicking "attach to clickup" just to show the form to search task by id and then another couple of seconds to attach it. It also constantly does something in the background slowing down the PC and periodically using CPU to 100%.
For me, all the other bells and whistles like AI etc can just be in clickup desktop app which I have open almost always anyway.
So something like "Clickup Lite extension" would be great :))
thanks
Krzysztof
Alex Lashkov
Krzysztof Zmorzyński hey, thanks for the comment! We've cracked the performance part already in a new extension that we test internally now. And why AI is bells and whistles? Like, you will be able to tell Brain to do all those things you want with your prompts or even dictate it via TTT
K
Krzysztof Zmorzyński
Alex Lashkov thanks for the info. What's the estimated shipping date for the new extension? Like this September, or end of the year, or Q12026...?
Alex Lashkov
Krzysztof Zmorzyński: we are testing internally, I'd say in October you will be able to use it.
Leslie Surel
I uninstalled the Clickup Chrome extension today after trying (and failing) to use it for a simple task. So I have quite a few thoughts on this.
Requests:
1) Before adding AI, I'd like the Chrome extension to work as described. It's glitchy and inconsistent, requiring constant uninstalling, reinstalling, browser refreshing, etc. Today, I wanted to add notes from the extension and sync to ClickUp notepad item. I can add a notepad item, but if I edit it ClickUp doesn't update. It keeps the last saved copy in the app, overwriting any changes made from from the extension.
2) Add subtasks to existing tasks from the extension. e.g., Parent task "Final changes to website". From the extension, add subtask "Optimize photos".
3) No AI assistance from the extension. It'd get in the way of a lean workflow, use unnecessary resources. If added, I want the option to disable AI.
4) Improved integration with Gmail. More like ToDoist or Google Tasks, not the floating icons (as others have mentioned)
EXTENSIONS/TOOLS I USE DAILY
* Gmail, Google Cal, Docs, Sheets
* Freshdesk
* 1Password
* Explain and Send Screenshots
* Chrome Web Dev
* Screenpal for recording how to videos for clients.
* Tango for creating written step by step intructions
* Hoverify: color picker, page inspector, responsive testing, etc.
* Zoom
* Simple Gmail notes - gmail add-on (might not be necessary w/better CU integration)
* MarkupIO to make notes on websites with clients (I'd love if ClickUp could replace this tool)
* Misc tooo I've tried over the years to organize bookmarks and resources and not keep 150 browser tabs open.
Hope that's helpful. Happy to answer any questions if any of this doesn't make sense.
Alex Lashkov
Leslie Surel hi! This is super helpful actually. For the work as described part - this is already achieved in the new extension build that we test internally. No more reinstallation will be needed for this new app.
The new extension will be AI first in its early iterations, then we can add more non-AI workflows.
About gmail integration. Can you please describe the desired implementation for you?

HD Tang
It'd be great to be able to bulk create tasks using natural language. Quite often we have to manually create 6 tasks which takes a while - it'd be great to just write it all out and then just have Clickup use AI to process the texts, determine which lists / users to assign them to, have a confirmation table where ou can edit and adjust and bulk create the tasks
Alex Lashkov
HD Tang task creation using natural language will be a part of v0, yeah. We probably will need to tweak a couple of things here and there to make it work exactly as you describe, but still!
Chris Shillum
Make it cross browser so that Firefox and Safari users are no longer locked out. I literally had to write my own Firefox extension to add pages to Clickup so that I could switch my personal to-do workflow from Trello to Clickup!
See https://feedback.clickup.com/integrations/p/firefox-add-on which has >800 upvotes!
Alex Lashkov
Chris Shillum we are building this in a way that will make it cross-browser. First it will be officially supported for Chrome only, but I am testing it now in Edge - and it works already.
Safari is a bit more tricky (won't work out of the box, we will need to do tweaks to support it), but also can be done, and this is on our list for sure.
Alex Shahrestani
Hopefully a simple request here. At minimum, I want to be able to see my Personal List and interact with it.
Ideally, an interface for viewing the same views that are available in the Home page of the dash:
- Recents
- Agenda
- My Work
- Assigned to me
- Personal List
- Assigned Comments
- Priorities (LineUp)
- Reminders
I don't need all of the views at once, but it would be nice to toggle through them and carry them with me throughout my workday. So maybe personal list is selected and I get that view in the chrome popup, or I can change to reminders and have that view, etc.
Again, at minimum the Personal List view in the popup.
Thanks!
Alex Lashkov
Alex Shahrestani I think in the v0 there will be mostly AI-fueled interaction, where you can tell Brain to do stuff like put this to my personal or other list while being on any website. Once we polish those interactions, we can do more traditional workflows - we have some PoC on that already, but just do not want to exaggerate the scope for the v0 for the sake of the speed.

Meir Braun
Would be nice to have all the options such a custom fiels and task relationships when creating a task via the chrome extension
Alex Lashkov
Meir Braun it will be possible to ask AI to set those up when you create tasks. Will that work for you?
M
Meir Braun
Alex Lashkov Not really as i would like to see the list on a dropdown for example. As well how will the Ai Know which task i want to add a relationship to?
Alex Lashkov
Meir Braun brain has lots of context and also can ask questions. Plus there should be a talk to text, so that you can actually tell it where to put what
Natalie Williams
Meir Braun agreed. This would be an efficiency booster for sure.

CLIPS:
I think going beyond screenshots would be great. Succinctly, implementing the ability to create Clips. The ability to quickly on a page record thoughts or demos of something and create a task, add to a notebook or essentially put that info anywhere in ClickUp that the user deems useful, would be wonderful.
Alex Lashkov
Jason Joseph yeah makes total sense. I do not think it will happen very soon though because integrating clips will be a huge task. However, I do see the future where you can easily trigger clips recording on any website right within the extension. That would be super cool in my opinion!
Jason Joseph
Alex Lashkov I see, I see. Hmmm, perhaps just building on to clips the ability to share to a destination (Task etc...)?
Are you familiar with the ScreenShot app Cleanshot for Mac Alex?
If not could you try it so you can see what I'm thinking?
IT has a tremendous ability once the screenshot (or screen recording) is shared, to give you some options what to do with it.
I think it may be a great source of inspiration.
Alex Lashkov
Jason Joseph Yeah sure I know Cleanshot. And we already have a PoC in a new extension where AI captures screenshots - next thing here would be to allow editing and work on that.
Good thing is that I will also soon be a PM for clips, so this will fall under my domain in upcoming months, and we will be able to experiment here more!
Jason Joseph
Alex Lashkov excellent. And cheers to the new role!
Alex Lashkov
Jason Joseph thanks so much! I am really pumped about all the possibilities to make cool things with and interconnect experiences
LK
I am a longtime daily user of the Chrome extension. My number 1 use is to take screenshots and then add them to clickup comments using the button that shows up at the bottom of the comment box, this embeds the image into the comment and makes it super easy for me to document something or show my assistant something.
this feature keeps stopping working :(
and then I have to reinstall the extension
except today I reinstalled the extension and it's still not working :(
An extension that works reliably over time would be a godsend.
PS: i have no interest in adding AI capabilities
PPS: I also sometimes use the gmail extension to add emails to relevant tasks
Alex Lashkov
LK Hello! Just to be transparent - the dev on the old extension is stopped, it will not be developed further. We are close to releasing an AI-fueled extension soon that does not have any reliability issues that the old app had. So I'd still recommend to everyone check this out when available, we really did our best to make AI useful to do all the workflows (gmail capture, tasks, screenshots, etc) from the old app and way more.
LK
Alex Lashkov I have not been able to get the "add screenshot from extension" feature to work for a few weeks now, it is kind of killing me. (Is this what you meant by dev is stopped on the old extension, that this feature will never work again)
Is the new extension now available and does it have this feature?
(Please note, it's not just that I want to take a screenshot, it's that I want to easily embed it into a clickup comment)
Alex Lashkov
LK have you tried reinstalling extension? I just tried the old one and it works for me..
For the new one, screenshots are not in the scope for the v0, but we understand how to add them pretty easily if this will be in demand.
LK
Alex Lashkov Yes I have tried reinstalling it several times over the past few weeks. I am still able to take a screenshot, the problem is that the "add screenshot to chrome extension" feature doesn't work.
Whereas before the "Add screenshot from Chrome extension" button would appear in the comment box if I'd taken a screenshot, and simply spin (but not embed the screenshot) when I clicked it, now nothing happens when I click it.
Here's the button
LK
Alex Lashkov Adding a screenshot to a task is otherwise a more cumbersome multi-step process, and it doesn't even embed into the comment, instead it's an uploaded file in the activity stream.
I can't believe screenshots aren't in the scope for the new extension...I find them insanely useful (a picture is worth 1000 words and all that).

A Chrome extension is a fantastic idea; it just makes it so much more integrative into the actual experience. I know that maintaining extensions can be quite a bit harder in some ways, more difficult than maintaining a webapp, but it also gives you more power to interact with the desktop in a way that can be quite useful. II know I'm not the one the has to make it, but I'm all in favour! As for other extensions, I primarily use those that remove advertisements (I know, I'm a leach), as well as those that make it easier/possible to download video that has been encoded via e.g. DASH, rather than simple HTML5, as without specialised software, one cannot just right-click and download. I use a TTS application to make reading longer articles easier, a dark mode switch, tab-copyer (select all the tabs to copy and, and you copy their URLs), 1 Password, and Tampermonkey, for various different purposes.
Alex Lashkov
Alun Cennyth Stokes gotcha, thanks so much! Btw, the new extension will support the dark theme!
