If we haven't interacted just yet, my name is Michael and I am the Product Manager for our Views team at ClickUp.
We're working on an all new Board view and we'd love to hear your thoughts! In the pinned comment below I've attached screenshots of our latest designs for your viewing.

Another Friday update for you all!
We are continuing to experiment Board view 3.0 and are nearly at our targeted sample size. Following review of the experiment results, we will be launching Board view 3.0 globally. Our expected release date is May 8th or 15th.
Additionally; as of today, Board view 3.0 is now accessible to all users who signed up for beta! We look forward to hearing your feedback using this form.
It wouldn't be fun if I didn't have something new to share so
.....I'm excited to share that Board view 3.0 will support multi-select using 'shift' as well as dragging & dropping multiple cards at one time. I've attached a preview for your viewing!

Stephanie Henry: Navigate to any Board view and you should see the latest updates (It will require a refresh if you haven't refreshed ClickUp today)!

Michael - I'm struggling with this update. It seems you have to set the board view styling for each and every single individual Folder. Really tedious and annoying. Is there a way to set the style for all Board views?

Michael The new features are refreshing! Big thanks to the team for putting this together. Board view is more fun to use :)
Some requests/reports after testing it on our mealplan board (🦄 is for features, 🐛 is for reports):
- 🦄 Option to hide scrollbar until mouse-hover. Could potentially help save even more horizontal space.
- 🦄 Option to hide empty columns, not just collapse them.
- 🦄 Option to hide task properties, to help save even more vertical space.
- 🦄 Global board customization settings (as Chris Moore had mentioned)
- 🐛 Renaming doesn't allow you to highlight text. Clicking + dragging to highlight text deactivates rename mode and moves the card instead.
- 🦄 Option to add custom fields when creating a new task. Currently there's only Add assignee, Add dates, and Add priority.
- 🦄 Button to set new cover image (there are arrows for browsing attachments, but no button to set a new attachment)
- 🦄 Button to add new image
- 🐛 Deleting a subtask created by the mouseover-menu (either through right-click menu or through bulk-select menu) doesn't remove the task from board view, and also opens the Fields customization menu on the right side. Deleting the new task using Board View does successfully delete the task from the database, Board View just needs a refresh for it to reflect changes.
The column-size formatting is working great, and in my experience most things are working as expected. Thanks again!

pixojoy: Appreciate the feedback!
- Option to hide scrollbar. Do you happen to have the 'Always' show scrollbar settings on your machine? I've attached a screenshot of what setting looks like on Macs
- Option to hide columns: We hear you! Not something we'll get to with this release but we're definitely looking to move to hiding instead of collapsing in the future.
- Option to hide empty fields: This is coming! The user test actually took so long because we have test groups for each experience. In the end it'll be a toggle but we want to validate which experience to show by default.
- Option to add custom fields when creating a task: You should see this now! We have more refinements coming here (Showing each option rather than a flyout menu)
I'll get action items for those bugs created. Thanks for reporting!

Hey pixojoy & Chris Moore: In regards to the Board settings needing to be applied to each Board. Do View Templates cover your needs? These can also be set as a default so that all Boards within a Space use the same template.
I've validated that Board view templates will carry over the following new settings:
- Stacked vs unstacked fields
- Colored columns
- Card size
- Displayed fields

Michael - No, it doesn't help. We have 10s and 10s of folders across multiple accounts, clients, etc. You have to go to EACH and EVERY SINGLE one and set the settings. This is super tedious and annoying.

I would love to filter subtasks by status when they are expanded.
Having subtasks grouped under their parent task in the board view is great, but I wish I could filter out the completed ones.
I know this is possible when subtasks are shown separately, but then they become their own cards, which is hierarchically confusing.

Michael this looks great, sizing color highlight, stacking/unstacking is awesome!
I would like to see how multiple dropdown custom fields will look like with "Stack fields" turned off. Are they going to still stay one per row? I think, if each dropdown custom fields takes its own row that should work perfectly, but there might be cases when custom field values are short and it would be useful to keep multiple (2-3) of them on the same row.
Also, I see that attachment icon takes its own row in Cookie task. What other indicators (fields?) are going to that row?

Yes, Dropdown Custom Fields will take their own row. We're thinking about providing a full "inline" experience rather than only for standard fields but no details to share here just yet.
The attachments icon is what we are calling the "task properties". This row includes attachments, checklists, dependencies, assigned comments, description, etc.

Michael looks great but I think the status should be left-aligned on the card same as in the column header. otherwise it looks visually disturbing to me.

Michael - Looking really good thanks! Is there some more news on custom fields being used for the columns and reordering those columns by drag and drop to the order you need? Also what about cards which are tagged with more than 1 column option - how is it handling those now? And can we see any update with Swimlanes please?

Pierre Becher: You can control which position your status is in! I've attached an example with status as the first position.
This doesn't align it completely with the group header as cards have a smaller width than the column. How it look to you?

Can you elaborate? I believe you may be referring to "group by single"? Right now a task with two tags/labels will create a new column with those two options. We are looking to support Group by Single in the future which will allow the tasks to appear in multiple groups! Feature request for this here
And can we see any update with Swimlanes please?
Here's a video! Let me know your thoughts. Swimlanes is one of our largest areas of iteration right now.

Michael thank you for the replies. I am very interested in the drag and drop reposition - currently we have to force our columns into order using numbers.
Yes you are right its the group by single I was after I have voted on this, this will be critical to us.
Thanks for the video on swimlanes, I really appreciate that - my preference would be to potentially have a few options - mainly to let us choose and adjust heights, but have an expand all option for and individual swim lane if needed and an option to just basically wrap to the smallest i.e. each lane is different depending on how many cards so can also get the most compact view possible yet see everything.

We're currently running an experiment to validate our changes and fine tune the experience. We expect this experiment to run for another ~week. Following review of our metrics, we will begin rollout of this feature.

Please add the drag-and-drop functionality from ClickUp's 2.0 version into 3.0 (and future versions), so that Tasks can be moved easily between columns in Board View.
This makes a large impact on how easy it is to manage and restructure Boards.

Maybe I'm just missing the "secret" setting... but Boards drive me nuts that they are constantly forgetting their vertical placement. It seems to happen everywhere, but the main view I use groups cards by categories (Meetings, Followups, Tasks, etc) and then I use due date as a horizontal swimlane.
I have sort turned off... because I want vertical placement to take precedence. The higher a card within a day for a category... means it's more important to me.
However, ClickUp is constantly mixing up the order and so I have no ability to "trust" vertical prioritization... which means I'm constantly rearranging, to no avail, and then after a few Google searches like this, I'm always driven out to other more reliable tools like Trello that never randomly switch up the vertical priority.

Can you share more details on the issues you are seeing, perhaps a clip? Issues with task position changing when not expected are a top priority for us. We'll get this fixed

Being able to Group By Status Group (e.g., Not Started, In Progress, Done, Completed) would be great in the new Kanban View. That way we have a real Kanban with
split lanes
so we can accurately calculate Flow Efficiency by accounting for Queue Stages that exist within In Progress

would also enable everyone to overcome the chaos that occurs when you have different lists with different status types and you attempt to group by status at the folder, space, or everything level.Chaos 🔥 + Status Groups = Order ☮️
