We leverage the ClickUp API for creating informative comments outside of ClickUp to communicate information from an external system into ClickUp so that our PMs can view task related information in one spot. The way this works is that we create a threaded comment and then thread the updates. Despite setting the
notify_all
flag to false, users receive a notification in their ClickUp inbox when these comments are created, and there is not a way to silence those (the option is grayed out and you cannot turn off the notifications). My proposal is either an API flag that actually prevents notifications, or a way to mark a user as a "silent" user, so that comments created by that user to not generate noise for other users.Christina Schechter
I used ClickUp Brain to update the description/instructions for a ClickUp Agent in automations, so that when the bot creates a comment in a task as a result of the automation, the comment should be posted but not notify watchers on the task. Our team members' inboxes have been getting overloaded with these notifications, and it is distracting from their work.
The response given from ClickUp Brain indicated that if an instruction was given to post a "Silent Comment", then watchers would not be notified, but it is not working. Screenshots are attached of the specific automation triggering these updates, as well as in my inbox of a notification including a comment that the comment was posted silently and should not have notified watchers.
---- I submitted this description to the support team and was advised that this was actually not something that was currently possible. I like the idea of creating a flag on a user, or having a setting on the ClickBot/AI Agent to designate that those notifications are not funneled to user's inboxes.
