Whiteboards Home

Allow users to search their “database” of Whiteboards so they don’t lose track of where they are.

While not a full solution, we're going to soon add the ability to see all of your Whiteboards in our Search feature. This is only a quick win, and we'll get to Whiteboards Home down the road as well!

I love this suggestion and agree 1000%! Switching between relevant whiteboards in differing sections can be a bit much while trying to add to both simultaneously.

I just now wanted to update a whiteboard, then spent 5 minutes looking for it as I couldn't remember which space it was in. They don't show up in the search results either, so some way to gather them together would be great.

Sean Meacher: Perfect example of why we need this added. It's on our list to get done soon!

Nick Potok & Zach Blodgett I'm not sure if this is the perfect place to share this idea with you, but as I read this request the following pattern came to my mind, which I think could further improve ClickUps consitency for "Homes" (global and by space) in many areas:
Context:
ClickUp handles a specific kind of Second / Third Level Entities, which are not tasks, like:
- Whiteboards (& Mindmaps) [that's why I'm writing it here]
- Documents
- Embeds
- Attachments
Eventually you could also see Goals as such.
All these are useful in tasks and sometimes a level higher in spaces (as Single Entities Views).
[Currently some are only usable as single Entities Views, not in tasks, but that's something different to improve]
Problem:
In daily work you need different perspectives on these Entities:
- Typically you're just working with them in tasks, e.g. creating or referencing Documents, Attachments, ... - SOLVED
- You want to list or search all these Entities within a space, for example looking for all documents uploaded for a customer-space - PARTIALLY SOLVED (only for tasks as Lists / Cards, ... in the Spaces Tabs (Views))
- You want to list all Entities you have access to, for example documents created by you or shared with you globally - PARTIALLY SOLVED (only for Documents and Goals in the left sidebar. Docs already has view modes to select, which is also perfect!)
What's missing is a clear and consistent top-down concept for this, but you've already started that with the Documents section on the left sidebar!
Proposed solution:
- Point 1 is already solved nearly perfect. As soon as you're able to create Whiteboards within tasks and link them, like the other Entities, it's PERFECT :)
- Point 2 requires the same logic in Space > "+View" as it already exists for tasks, but allow to add a tab with a LIST of these items by type, not only allow to add a single Entitiy (like currently for Whiteboard, Doc, Form, ... which might be kept, but as a single Entity reference for very important Entities to the space)
- Point 3 requires generalization of what you already did for "Docs" in left sidebar, but for all these Entity by type in global. Listing all Entities the user has access to, showing their most important details and and locations, independent from space. The left sidebar is the perfect place for that already!
The list used in (3) could be the same as in (2) but without the filter on current space, that should save you some work and also provide consistency! :)
I'd be very happy, if you could discuss these ideas with the team in terms of "Whiteboards Home" as start for a general, consistent UX.
Feel free to copy this over to a separate issue, if it make sense for you! :)
Should you have any further questions, feel free to contact me.
And I'd be very very happy about a reply what you think about it.

PS: I forgot to mention "Time Tracking" in the list which I'd also count as Entity and which would make a lot of sense to follow this concept!
Having a page for all time trackings (global) and the option to show a list per space / folder with all useful functionality like filtering, sorting, exporting, bulk edit, etc. would fit perfectly into the concept and solve many current UX problems!

Julian Pustkuchen: There are various teams that will be involved in the larger "Home" task where Whiteboards will also live. I'll make sure we keep your comment above in mind for our discussions as it's very carefully thought through. Thank you SO much for your feedback!

Zach Blodgett: Thank you very very much for your positive feedback. It's just some ideas from the users perspective and high daily use. :)
However you solve it, I'm sure it will be great! And if some of my ideas help, I'd be quite proud!
Should you have any further questions, feel free to contact me directly!

I would like to be able to set a Home location on my whiteboard as well as Views I can jump to within the whiteboard. An example would be a home location with a list of view locations I can jump to within the whiteboard and each view contains a workflow diagram for processes within the company. Each View would be defined by a box drawn around the object I want to be in the view and it acts as a hyperlink.
