Reset Checklist items when task recurs
Martin Gammon
In a recurring task, if a checklist is used and "checked-off" as the items are worked through, when the task recurs, the checklist items will still be checked off. Would make more sense to reset them to unchecked or at least provide it as a recurring task setting.

Yes, I was just looking for this feature and if the items are resolved, the recurring task should uncheck the items to start over again. It only makes sense.

Please, Please set this up so a recurring task doesn't come with checklists already marked off as if they're complete already - kind of the point of having a recurring task in my mind is to "start fresh". Thanks for making this a priority in fixing what appears to be a bug.

Totally agree with several others here that this would be more of a fix than a feature. If a task recurs, that is a brand new occurrence of the task and it should reset everything to its pristine state, even checklists.

Please please. This is closer to a bug fix than a feature add, because the expected nature of a checklist in a recurring task would be that the checklist resets too. So it's a standard function that's broken right now.

Reopen checklist when closing recurring task
Kim Hoang
When a task is set to recurring on schedule, and automatically change to Not started/todo status when task status is changed to closed, then all the closed Items in the checklist must be reopened.
See screenshot below:
Bullet 1; If users click the "Close" task button, the system notifies users there are several items not completed yet. Users can click to close all items as shown in Bullet 2
Bullet 3; The system sets the task back to the status "Not started/Backlog"
Bullet 4; all the items in the checklist should be reopened/Not closed as well, but right now it is still marked as completed/closed

Hey everyone!
At this time it is expected for Checklist not to reset when a task recurs, but I do agree that it would be a great option for users to have.
In the meantime, we can either use the "Create New Task" option instead of reopening the closed task or we can also follow these steps below:
- Set up a task that recurs with the checklist items, unchecked
- Save it as a task template
- Set up an automation to apply the task template after the due date arrives or status changes.
I hope this helps a little bit! We'll be in touch here as soon as we have any updates with this features progress.
Have a great week!
Thanks!

Shaquille Payne: Hi Shaquille, Thank you for the insight! We have tried saving the new task as a template and applying when a status changes but when we do this a few things happen that I'm not sure how to avoid:
- The task description from the template is re-added to the task as a duplicate.
- The old closed checklist stays on the task. A new open checklist is added successfully but as we are planning to reuse these tasks 100's of times, having the old closed checklists on the task could get cumbersome.
- The due date of the task resets to the saved due date on the template.
Of these the most challenging is the third option, the due date resetting. I am going to try different options on that but for me, applying the template isn't an ideal option for our team.
